I'm surprised that there isn't a CM FAQ sticky'd on this forum...

I was curious about a few CM related issues, and I would appreciate it if you guys could answer my questions:

a) Is CM a viable combat class (as a damage-dealer, not just a healer)without advancing in the pistols/rifles/carbines that you used to get to CM prereqs in the first place?

b) Can you get CM xp healing entertainers in the cantina, or people in the medical center?

c) Is it hard to find groups on advanced planets? Assuming that it's advantageous to do so.

d) Is there any avenue for making credits besides solo destroy missions? For that matter, how hard is it to solo destroy missions?

e) Are the resources needed for the crafting aspects of CM overly difficult to find?

Ok, I'll stop there (for now).

Thanks for your replies, and remember I don't know anything about CM, so feel free to elaborate as much as you like andif any of these questions seem "dumb" then please go easy on the flamage...

Yes, Poisons and disease are very powerfull at the C level, and are very nice weopons for PvP, and even for some PvE. Interestingly, poisons seem to be resisted less by tougher Mobs.

b) Can you get CM xp healing entertainers in the cantina, or people in the medical center?

There is no difference between Combat medic XP, Medic XP, or Doctor XP, its all the same. HOWEVER, I recently noticed that area heals no longer give the insane XP when throwing them in cantinas anymore. But any other type of healing will give you what you need.

c) Is it hard to find groups on advanced planets? Assuming that it's advantageous to do so.

Not really, if your a competant healer. Try going to the Coronet or Tyrena Starport and ask around if any groups are going offworld, or try going to Nims Stronghold on Lok. There are almost always people on Lok looking for healers.

d) Is there any avenue for making credits besides solo destroy missions? For that matter, how hard is it to solo destroy missions?

Solo destroy missions are not that hard once you reach novice CM. At that point, your pistol skills are good enough to handle a simple one. Youll get an average of 800-1000 credits per mission.

If you have the resources and capabilities, crafting StimB's and and WoundB's for selling them on the bazzar is also a decent money maker, but will require a pretty significant investment into harvesters and crafting supplies.

e) Are the resources needed for the crafting aspects of CM overly difficult to find?

The basic resources are pretty easy to find, advanced resources can be much more difficult. Check my database for what resources you need, then go to www.swgcenter.com or www.swgcraft.com and check the database to see if there are any on your server and how good they are.

Making a thread on the FAQ sitcky would be up to KaveDawg to consider doing. It's something I did for the Docs, though, soI obviously think it's a good idea.

I used the tumble to kneel "feature" to get insane xp. is this an exploit or a "feature"..? of course you need a buddy character willing to macro his tumbling...

Untill you've reached the Combat Medic level where you can craft C offensive meds, I always considered the CM as the utimate combat support class, invaluable to any teams mission.

You're weapons skills wont be on par with most elite classes, but you will hold your own an any mob fight, and help "plink" away at the enemy. You're strength will be healing the "tanks" in your group as you dole out the ranged heals to others, to keep the team going forward. Doctors and Master Medics cant always diengage combat to get to an injuried comrades side in time. Combat Medics don't need to! Just keep that med pitching arm warmed up.

On Tusken raids, I used to be the sencond offensive line behind the master carboneers, Commandos, BH, and such throwing out the heals to keep the HAMS up on their special attacks. Creature Handlers would be behind me, within throwing range. And this would allow the melee player to attack, with me healing them within pistol range. The possibilites are endless though.

I just got Master Medic, working on getting my Ranged Support up to IV so I can go Combat Medic, what a pain.

Anyway, my question(s) are these:

1. Combat Medics, mainly a support class, currently I am going Carbine. Is there any thing better to do; Rifle, Pistol? I understand Rifle uses more MIND which would be important to a Combat Medic. I just don't like Pistol that much. Carbines seem more my choice.

2. How high up a specialized tree should a Combat Medic go? I'm using a Carbine of course, as a Combat Medic, would going very far up the Carbinier tree be worth my while? Will I REALLY get enough "gun time" to get Carbine XP? Perhaps only concentraiting on some of the lower tiers and spending my points in Doctor and or Entertainer might be more sufficient?

Basically I'm kinda wanting to know some different paths that other Combat Medics are taking and that way I could plan my future as well.

What's this?

Its a special move that eats up the action pool very fast. You have a friend spam the move to deplete there ham, and then you heal. Rinse and repeat. And yes, i do personally consider it an exploit, if your just doing it to grind XP....

Pistol is the weopon of choice for probably the majority of CM's, as it is very fast and uses very little mind pool, if any. It also has some pretty good specials targeting the health pool, which goes pretty good with health poisons. But a carbine would not be too bad of a choice either.

I have Novice Pistoleer, basically just for /healthshot2. It really depends on how much you rely on your weopon, and how many skill points you have free to use. I cant really tell you how you like to play the game.

Basically I'm kinda wanting to know some different paths that other Combat Medics are taking and that way I could plan my future as well.
