Thread: A guide to soloing Krayts
I did a great job this weekend working on solo tactics, so finaly decided to write a small guide. Sorry for my English (it isntmy native language) andenjoy ![]()
ABSTRACT
Poison, peace and run - thats all. Sounds simple but requires some work before you can do it easily. Lesser krayts are easy but highers are violent and dangerous. Prepare carefuly and hope armor hole wont affect you.
PREPARATION
This guide was written mainly by recent events, but parts are true for 2 months old when i killed my first juvenile right outside Mos Taike.
- Good doc buffs. Without a good master level buff dont even try doing it. 2.5k health is a must, 3.5k+ is a good work.
- Kinetic resist armor. I use 62% kinetic currently (and used 53% months ago). Main krayt attack is kinetic blow.
- Muon gold is a must. Dont use it often, but have it on toolbar for emergency.
- Poisons. Personaly I use mind, but pool doesnt matter. For best result you need area/direct B and area/direct C (they all stack). My best C packs deal 630+450 damage per tick (i do not use B's right now but will be soon).
TACTIC
Stand at max rangeof your poison. Turn back to the krayt. Hit poison pack and toggle autorun. When combat window appears hit peace. Now it time to pray
Before recent patch next thing is krayt warp on top of you head. With 53% armor I could stand 4 to 6 fiercefull blows of giant kraytie, not more. Chance to survive is like 50%. When it loses aggro keep running - krayts are nasty, he will aggro again and again. Finalyif you're lucky he returns back. Now you go and hit him with weapon - if you lose dragon from your sight he have great chance to respawn fresh and without poison.
After recent patch things are better. Maximum warp distance i saw is half-way between me and dragon, and sometimes there is no warp at all. So when using 84m poisonsthere is a great chance running at least 100m before he finaly hits for the first time. 2-3 hits and dragon loses aggro.
JUVENILE KRAYT
This lesser krayt is as tought as some banthas or tuskens. With decent 60%+ armor he cant kill you, just care about your mind - put the helm on and use muon when get less than 50% mind. Juveniles usualy are peaceful, once lose aggro they do not aggro again, just lay on ground and die.
CANYON AND GIANT
These are nastier. One hit to armor hole can incap you instantly. I recommend using muon prior to fighting these. Giant is really tought, i do not recommend usual poison-run tactic, see smth better below. Also giants have the biggest HAMs (even bigger than Ancient).
ANCIENT
Fought these only two times, so can be wrong. Main rule:two hits - you dead. Note that you need great weapon to deal last hit to the beast. Also, its useless tosend grauls/at-sts against ancient, so master CM is one of few guys who can kill ancient (master rifleman bleed can do IF he hits through heavy armor+100% resist).
ELDER
Havent seen them myself
POOR RAZORBACKS TACTIC
With warp bug gone i found a new excellent tactic to use. Find a neutral mobs lair near krayties (well, agrro mobs also work, but neutrals are better). Throw a poison from maximum distance and run to the neutral lair. 95% times krayt is so aggro he starts killing poor razorbacks, eopies and kreetles (DIE KREETLE, DIE
). They wont stand long, but main idea is to slow dragon. When pursuting you without a warp bug he uses burst run - when burst run wears out he cant get you with melee attack, and his ranged attacks are weak and very inaccurate. Now he walks toward you slowly and you shoot from CDEF into his face ![]()
This tactic worked excellent even against ancient krayts - I got both down to 1 mind, but unfortunately cant deal last 1 hit with my CDEF. Disease + poison does not work from my experience.
FIGHT CLUB TACTIC
Krayties like to fight each other. Often if you see two standing nearby - toss an area pack and sit watching. Main idea is to control damage - usualy there are canyon and juvenile, so you have to poison strong canyon with additional direct pack. Then they kill each other and you get the loot.
INCAP = DEATH ?
Well, remember - incap isnt always death. If you're in a trouble and feel one more blow will smash you - run to the mobs, any mobs. Incapping you, krayt can aggro on them, so you have time to get up. Sometimes he can even kill mobs and forget about you, so you stand up and run away free.
RANDOM ADVICES
Bestwork in pairs doc/CM and doc/?? (rifleman/BH/smuggler). With both can resurrect its safer, and its easy to deal mind bleed + mind poisons and get krayt down fast.
Dont wear helm, but put it on toolbar slot. You need full mind always, so put helm on only in emergency.
Shoot krayt at least once with weapon. There is a loot sharing bug that might prevent you from looting when you dont deal at least 1 point of damage with weapon.
Be nice and dont steal others loot. Shame on me i realized too late that CHes and at-st d00dz has been stealth nerfedlast patch - now damage from pets dont count towards loot sharing pool. That means that you deal massive damage with poisons, like 10-15k, and they have to outdamage you with THEIR OWN weapons, not pets. Only master rifleman and master commando can theoreticaly outdamage master CM on greater krayts, which have 80%+ resist and noone can outdamage MCM on ancient. So basicaly you can see a krayt, toss a poison and get the loot, cause mainly 95% damage is dealt by pets. This isNOT an exploit, but a quite weird tactic when noone knows about it...
Hope this helps ![]()
sweet guide i got a MCH buddy and we will try it out

About the ancient Krayt's....Why is it useless to send a pet after it? Sure it won't do any damage....But In most Pet cases it isn't supposed to...it's just there to soak up damage for you.
Alot of MCH's pick up commando Flame 4 now, just so they can use the burn effect on 100% resistant Mobs (My Post FSCS plan infact...MCH + Either Flame4 or CM Support and distance lines
)
Does this not work with ancients for somereason? ![]()
SUPER KITE: Know your poisons range, and establish the parameter around a sitting Krayt. Start about 15-20m outside of youre maximum range and hit burst, run in to your maximum range and toss the poison without stopping, doing your best to run along the perimeter of your maximum range until the poison is applied, then bee-line it away, preferably through a lair of lower level creatures. With a high duration poison you will need to do this twice to kill a 28k HAM Krayt. As with any assault, the more tools you have at your disposal increase the odds of survival.
Weapon of choice: Many CM's have taken the pistol route, which is understandable but the worst for soloing Krayts. Rifleman/CM (rare) will want to use strong mind poison and concealed tactics to finish off a Dragon. Carbine is my preference, and IMO the best gun for surviving a Krayt chase...burstshot 1 will easily deliver a killing blow, and if you just can't shake that pesky Krayt Chargeshot1 will give you a KD and the time you need to FLEE! (plus the sound of a Krayt getting knocked into the side of a mountain is great!)
Poison of choice: I would only use mind poison with rifle, as rifle can easily target the mind pool for massive damage in a single shot (for the finishing move). Pistol has nice bleeds, and might be workable with a strong health poison (although I still say pistols are too dangerous for solo Krayt hunting). Carbine gives a choice between strong health or strong action poison, as it can target either pool (Burstshot1 & 2 or Actionshot1 & 2) and apply an action bleed.
Pets: Better than armor, a kahmuraa can pin down a krayt for a full 10-20 seconds. Not long, but long enough to remove yourself from aggro range to finish the Krayt off. With distance heals to restore the pet prior to the second poison kite, using /shout attack can gain you another 10-20 second window to toss your poison.
Nasty tactics: Pull a Krayt into OPPOSING FACTION members already in battle with another Krayt. It's a wicked thing to do, because they usually all die and send you nasty tells. Even better, toss a long range area poison into a Krayt lair and pull two dragons into the mix...this usually results in killing the entire party and giving you 2 highly wounded Krayts to pick off at your leisure.
Chrageshots main use is to ESCAPE the raging dragon, who is noticably irritated because you threw arsenic in with his morning wheaties. A little knock on the butt once or twice will allow anyone to put a few mountains between themself and becoming a quick case of heartburn for such a magnificant beast...
Teamed up yesterday with a CH/Rifleman and camped Ancient Krayt with two grauls. Without my constant heals grauls wont stand even20 seconds, but with my poisons plus his mind bleedI was able to keep grauls alive long enough. The nastiest thing about Giants/Ancients is that they both dizzy almost everytime and they both dont have knockdown timer. So i saw 3 at-st got knocked down an once andtheir owners were owned in a few seconds ![]()
FIGHT CLUB tactic worked perfectly, with proper damage control winning krayt have exactly 1 mind.
And finaly, republic blaster rocks ! My CDEF was great, but republic is far superior, it can dealdamage to Ancient !
