Thread: PvP Builds
Has anybody designed a template for a Combat Medic that will be poweful in PvP? If so I would really like to see it, I think the profession is very interesting and could be alot of fun. There are enough skill points to master combat medic and pistoleer/carbineer/rifleman so I think we will eventually see some combat medics that can really wreak havoc in PvP.
Master Medic = 77
Master Combat Medic = 63
Pistol/Carbine/Rifle Mastery +Ranged Weapon Support Mastery = 43
Master Pistoleer/Carbineer/Rifleman = 63
Total = 246
Just a word of warning. If the resource market never takes off not having artisan could end up killing you.
I never did PvP solo but I went the master combat medic/master doctor route in beta and I PvP often enough near the end. I would just go with a group for a raid and make sure to keep my boys on their feet. Before the fight I would buff them up, during the fight I would heal them, and if someone went down I'd go rez them.
I suggest every person that picks up medic and wants to PVP take rifle... for one reason...
When you use your medic skills.. it drains your mind pool... when you use your rifle skills... it drains your mind pool...
That way you can keep your mind buff'd... and lower your other stats... makes it so you dont have to focus to much on the other attributes and you'll be able to more wisely spend your stats... just my 2 cents
btw... i'll be going master Rifle/Combat Medic
I'll have no need for surveying cause i'll have harvestors running, and have many friends within our future PA that will find me spots to place my harvestors ![]()
omgBrianDarkwalkeryou sooooooooo need to learn how to count!
ok 1st off unless the strategy guide is waaay off, you have no clue as to what you are talking about. you need to master the FULL marksman and medic tree before you can become a CM. So you'll have very few points to play with.
marksman tree - 71
medic tree - 71
combat medic tree 64
thats 206
Now for eachof the weapon elite trees (pistoleer, rifle spec, carbineer) it costs 63 to fully master each one.
so 206 + 63 = 269 so how did you get 246 with mastering all up to CM with all weapon elite trees?
I was looking at the builder and came up with this template for my CM/Doc
Master CM
Pistol Specialist
Novice Doctor (Treatment IV and Crafting IV)
Novice Artisan (Survey IV)
4skill pts left over
Assuming that the revive pack is 35 med use as some1 posted, then I will be able to use the packs to rez people and still be maxed on CM.
I kept the Survey cuz after experiencing the resource shift and seeing how harvesters now need to run at 100% to work, relying on harvesters is looking less and less attractive. Besides AFKsurveying nets much more resources than harvesters just that u cant to various types at once.
Drawback is that wound speed doesnt improve and thus you dont get access to cure poison and disease.
This all depends on if what the medicine use requirement on the revive packs is. If Novice doctor med use is viable, then I'm going with this spec...otherwise i might have to surrender out of survey which would suck....
Any comments?

Hehehe the CM/RM here was on the ball eh? He forgot to mention that he could target everyone elses mind and waste them![]()
Yeah, too bad you cant pick up master swordsman and do the same from a melee standpoint. Haho, I feel your hate for CM's through my monitor. Think good thoughts about us, we keep you alive in the corvette ![]()
As a MCM/RM I dont even have the points to pick up novice doctor for the state cures. As far a dabbling goes the pvp'er who dont go rifleman they only go up lvl4 on the distance and use trees of CM then tack on a master fencer. Some will also go master melee (usually TK for the powerboost) and max out the use tree of CM foregoing any distance modifiers. They just throw it after or just before a KD/posturedown/dizzy.
Use your imagination but right now the best combo involving CM is rifleman. Both can attack an unhealable pooland stacking themamounts to excellent dps. Riflemen can deathblow from range which makes it easier than wading through others before some noob DB's your kill and get some decent defenses. They also have area dizzy and stun attacks that do considerable damage by themselves. In PvE they have the potential to solo ancient krayts due to their "conceal shot" which prevents npc's to know where the damage is coming from. Be prepared to spend an hour doing this though as the attack isn't that powerful, has a tendency to hit the action pool as often as the health, and whittling down 360k HAM is tough.
Carbineer seems to be the new FOTM as more and more people are choosing it. They have several knockdown specials including a built in dizzy on one type (I still wake up screaming when I get the dream of the TK jump kicking my head..except that I'm laying on the ground) The downside is that the HAM costs are very high and that the KD can be countered by chef foods. Their main target pool is action which can be easily healed by a stimB.
Pistoleer is rarely seen anymore in master status. They recieve excellent defenses which are sought after by template stackers. However, their potential dps is poor to average at most. They get a KD and advanced version which is basically a point blank pistol whip and doesn't incur any state on the victim. The advanced version is STILL bugged to this day. Their main target pool is health which can be easily healed by a stimB. Pistoleers are nice for PvE as most of their specials concentrate on one pool as opposed to the varying attacks that the other elites use. Melee defense1 (the pistol whipping KD) has been tested and shown to able to KD ancient krayts. I wouldn't try it though as it tends to fail too often on womp rats. *bonus cookie- there is a picture circulating of a possible new pistol available to pistoleers. It has a cowboy'ish look to it and makes you think of extremely big slugs popping out of it when you see it in action. sony's favorites get a super sweet looking knuckler though
Believe it or not I dont hate CMs, the fact is they can bypass buffs and armour (which is good cos buffs and armour are overpowered imo) and target the only damage type that isnt presently healable . Oh and they have outstanding range and rarely miss.
Its these facts that make CM the ONLY choice if you wanna PVP.
And that my friend is where the problem lies.
As the hologrind ends and more and more established players look for PVP/GCW for thelong term gamethey realise the only viable option is to get a CM template (usually with RM).
So what will happen will be that the great GCW will end up as Combat Medic Wars as more and more people migrate to this template.
This to me is not very star warsy. Id rather see a whole different bunch of professions fighting in PVP/GCW.
Yes, this will hopefully get sorted out in the combat balance (cant wait to see what they are doing with it), and we will have to wait until then.I personally still hope that with the rebalance CMs still provide a role, although personally Id like to see it as the Uber healing role rather than the damage one.
Interesting times ahead indeed. Hopefully when the rebalance hits there wont be an Uber PVP template (though I know thats going to be difficult for them to do, but hey, thats what they get paid for right?), and just to finish off my points I will be VERY interested in how many people stay CM if they even up combat between the professions.
