Thread: I'm terrified of making a decision
I'm coming up on master medic and reading these posts has put me in a state of panic as to which class I should choose: combat medic or doctor.
I am a rifleman also, that is currently my main means of dealing damage soI'm not sure I'm cool with the enormous amount of play time and money requirements needed to make CM just to get some extra attacks (cool as they may be). I am mostly interested in healing damage as opposed to dealing it in poisons, etc, and since CM has nice ranged healing skills I thought that would mesh well with the ranged attacks of the rifleman.
Would doctor be a better choice if I mainly want healing? Iscombat medic worth it for the ranged healing?Do you think we can count on the devs to not reduce this class to neanderthals? Where do babies come from?
Thanks
personally i think rifleman is a poor choice for either doc or CM since u draw from the mind pool to use specials and incredibly slow attack rates although it must easier with spray sticks...
are u gonna master CM? if so then its worth getting..CM is a class not to be dabbled in since there are huge returns for getting Master...Doc is a little easier to dabble in and self buffing will help u a lot...
i would say go doctor with rifle if i had to choose...
You should go Carbineer and Doctor.
Carbine is a good middle of the road in the Marksman profession. Rifles hit hard and can target the heads but they fire really, really slow. Most people have low Minds. Pistol is on the other side, it targets the body and hits really fast but their damage in comparison is really weak. Pistol is very defensive but lacks the punch. Most people also have high Health.
Carbine on the other hand deals very good damage comparable to a Rifleman but shoots it faster. They target the legs which most professions burn really fast with their specials. Anyone who uses specials on you is pretty much just helping you kill them much faster.
The best match for Carbine would then be a Doctor, mainly for the stat buffing ability. Buff before battle and use a good helmet during and you're all set. This works in both PvP and PvE.
The first person who got two AT-ST in my galaxy was a Carbineer/Doctor and he got the first one before the reduction in faction points. That should tell you how good that combination is.
If you're going Combat Medic, you should go with a fast firing pistol for defense to upset all the times your poison will get resisted. Only go CM if you can handle all the harvesting or are very loaded in credits. There's also the time issue since you have to craft all your poisons plus your ranged stimpacks. Personally, I wanted to become a CM when I saw a master throw one of those blue glowing balls. LoL, that was great, I wanted to throw one too. ![]()
If you're mainly interested in healing, then I'd say you should be a Doctor. Combat Medics are kind of...not exactly what we are thinking of. They're more like Japanese Terrorists than medical professionals. j/k. Sort of.
japanese terrorists?! now thats a racist comment...
u know my wife is japanese...
terrorist yes but do we have to make it racial?
if anyone is guilty of using weapons of mass destruction isnt us the americans?
I kinda realize the problems with combining rifleman with a medic class but it's too late and I don't want to move to pistol or anything.
I would master doctor or cm since I only need a couple things in rifleman (the rest of the skills are worthless).
Not to turn this into a debate but the reference to Japanese terrorists using chemical weapons is founded, they're known for using that route rather than suicide bombers, car bombs, etc. Weapons of mass destruction have nothing to do with it since CMs are using chemical-type weapons onthesmall scale.
Don't automatically assume that any reference to a culture associated with terrorism implies racial discrimination.
I was just joking, and it wasn't racial, I was just using the reference to nerve toxins being used in a japanese subway. The racial tag was just to identify it, not to generalise. I shoulda' known better. ![]()
I one of those, Rifleman/Combat Medics. Once rifleman gets to Master, he shoots his high damage rifle once per second without specials. It is another profession, like combat medic that needs to be mastered to see its effectiveness. I am not their on either front, but I should reach master combat medic first.
I hunt with a pistoleer and with pets. I just turn on my spraystick(don't use any specials)and run around and heal everything, we can pretty much take down anything, given enough time. Healing pets is a great way to level up medic xp.
Solo hunt is: send pet, mindshot2/1, headshot2 until creature is dead, Sit, heal pet, craft until mind bar is charged up and repeat.
I also hang out at cantinas and have a macro to heal the enetertainers(I join their group and they love it) while I grind medical crafting(2 more boxes to go).
This configuration is pretty much the most offensive powers combined. An Area effect mind poison, mind bleeds, and area effect high damage shot(strafe shot 2, at master rifle level, i hear it can do 3k damage to a clump of people before the reduction with a T21. Possibly more with a laser rifle, but it's all luck then)
The mind pool is a big problem though. The greatest strength and greatest weakness of a Rifleman/Combat Medic. You just have to be careful and be smart with specials.
I make my money selling energy I run a bunch of solar harvesters and have regular customers, brings in about 500k creds or so a week easily and guaranteed. Not the most money, but I don't have to babysit harvesters or run shops.

lol ok so lets call all arabs terrorists?
if anything the Japanese have historically used biological and not chemical weapons...
Unit 731 being the prime example.
Suicide bombers arent unique to the the Japanese, Islamic suicide bombers are just as prevelant.
The most outstanding example of Japanese use of chemical weapons is probably the Aum Tokyo Sarin Gas attack which is in fact considered to be quite a failure as a terrorist attack given that 1) the concentration of the sarin gas was low 2) it was rush hour and casualities were kept at a minimum. In actuality, Aum really wanted to use anthrax over sarin, but finding a viable anthrax strain and effective dispersal mechanism proved beyond their methods...
If u wanna look at effective use of nerve gas...look at the russian opera house hostage incident where Putin ordered use of a incredibly stron nerve agent against the hostage takers...
And who says my AOE isnt WMD? 25m AE is pretty large ![]()
