My understanding is that there is no actual Z axis in the game therefore you can't swim underwater. It's the same reason why you can't jump.

Is that also why you can shoot and be shot through hills and mountains?

Yup.

A 'Z' axis is apparently too difficult to program in...

As of right now, you can only swim on the surface of the water. Look for a possible change to this in a future expansion.

Heheh, a Z-axis IS there and it IS being used. The Z axis isour third dimension which gives us height. I know what you mean but your usage is just a bit off. You're talking about ground level. Everything we do takes place at ground level. Even though we have hills that go almost straight up and down, and water that has a negative depth, it's still ground level and you can't go above it or below it. I was hoping the space expansion would add altitude and water depth, and we still have yet to find out, but I doubt it will. The engine is capable of it because EQ uses this capability already. Anarchy Online still has the very best engine and their usage of the skies are phenomenal. SWG will never be able to recreate the skies, clouds, weather and scenery that AO currently offers. The SWG game is new but the engine is really old and inefficient.

You can also jump, it's just not like a jump in other games, it's strictly a social animation as fas as I can tell.

The faster crawling speed will probably be underutilized. What about making the speed increase instead go to swimming?

Why not simply apply it to both situations?

The amount of increase might not be as great (no dolphin PCs, thanks), but perhaps Mon Calamari could even get a bonus to swimming speed that stacks with that of Rangers?

Sounds like a good idea to me. I expect they will implement it when they (if ever) put in the ability to go under the surface. They never put in the bonuses Mon Calamari were supposed to get.

I was just thinking the other day that a swimming bonus would be kind of helpful. Starting off on Tatooine, I never thought much about swimming, but now that I'm on non-dirt planets, I do it alot. Might help.

Hey Kort, I just wanted to say a big Thank You for trying to address the issue and not just letting it lie without some investigation as to whether or not it is intended. Very classy of you bud.

The problem with that is that poison and disease application follows the same coding as using healing stims. As of yet I have not heard that it is considered an exploit. Last I heard it was being looked into.
