Thread: Player City Content Concept by Zina
- Accepted by the Mayor
- Voted on by citizens who have been members of the city for15 days (or 30...i dunno, but i hope u get the point)
At this time, I am not sure what the best way to go would be. By giving the Mayor the choice, it could possibly make voting for a good mayor more important that it currenly is.
"Epic" Mission Terminal:
The terminal would be accessible, sort of like the Enclave Terminals, and any players in the city that wished to participate, would have to access the "Epic" Mission Terminal and "accept" the current mission. Voting for the mission, IF applicable, would also take place through that terminal.
The only people eligible for the "Epic" Mission, would be residents of that specific player city, who had been residents for 15 days (again, maybe 30 days, i dunno, but you should get the point).
Reward(s):
Upon completion of the "Epic" Mission for that certain Phase, the city would be rewarded with a somewhat powerful, and surely useful "perk". The "perks" would be permanent, unless the city dropped below rank 4, or totally dissolved. Possible perks that I have pondered:
- New/Unique Buildings
- Additional + Modifiers to a city. Example: 5% more mission payouts...5% better buff strengths. These modifiers would be separate from the modifiers granted from City Specialization
- A "Super Mission Terminal" which grants say...25% extra payouts
- An NPC Police Patrol
- Useful items*
These are just a few thoughts of course. Maybe one reward would be a vehicle schematic that is not currently in the game. The possibility for rewards is endless. But the bottom line, is that the rewards must be desireable. They also must be balanced equally so that not every city does the same "epic" quest every phaze.
Also, after a full cycle comes around, a city would not be allowed to do the "5% more mission payout" a second time to give a total of 10% mission payout. Some missions would be possible to repeat (maybe a vehicle, or useful item quest), however ones that truely unbalanced the game (like stacking 100 5% mission payouts) would not be possible.
Why is this "idea" good?
I think that it would do 2 major things.
- Promote Players to work within their city, with each other, to complete a common goal. Grouping is something that needs to be promoted.
- Allow a city to "stand out". Give people a real reason to visit a Player City.
If one day, I decide to make a player city, theres no gaurentee that anyone would want to join the city, and theres no gaurentee that anyone would ever visit my city. Inorder for either to take player, players need a reason. Give players a good reason to do something, and they will.
Promoting grouping and getting to know other players is never a bad thing.
Conclusion:
This is just a skeleton of what I believe, would be a beneficial system to this game. Please, after reading this, do not take everything to heart It is more of a concept than it is a final vision. But I truely believe that something like this would give us much needed content, it would provide player cities with unique perks, it would promote organization and grouping. Any thoughts?
Its nice to see the flow of ideas around here every once in a while.

1st off, I posted this in the Naritus forums about a week or so ago and got pretty good response. 2nd off, I am not a politician ingame, however I am a strong proponent of player content additions, I am also looking for ways to improve this game.
A ground breaking moment in SWG history, was adding player created cities into the game. Alas, some have been very successful, and others sit wilting with little or no traffic. The developers made a post a few days ago about NPC cities and sprucing them up...I misread it and thought they were talking about all the empty player cities. Anyway, I had an idea, that would promote people working together, for the better of their respective player city. Ontop of it all, it would give cities "perks" so to speak, and maybe give players more of a reason to visit the player cities.
Preface:
This idea revolves around the mechanics and concept of the village. If you understand the village, the mechanics of the village, and how it works, then this would make perfect sense to you.
Idea:
Introduce a "village" questsystem which is applied to Player Cities. Again, this is a concept, and to be honest, I have never been a politician, so I am not sure all the specifics about Player Cities. But lets just say any Player City above rank 4 is eligible. And for the sake of idea, lets say that there are 6 phazes, so a total of 6 months before the phazes reset.
At the beginning of every month, any Rank 4 Player City or above is allowed to partake inONE "epic" quest, or in simpler terms, a "village quest". That quest isdetermined byone of the following:
- Accepted by the Mayor
- Voted on by citizens who have been members of the city for15 days (or 30...i dunno, but i hope u get the point)
