Thread: Medium Naboos (but not the usual argument...)

By now it has become fairly obvious that the devs will not be returning the footprint of the medium Naboo house to what it was, fair enough. Yes it screws a lot of people and cities over a bit, but that is not the biggest problem causes by the change, as I discovered recently when attempting to come up with some kind of contingancy for having my city start to become unrepairable...

As most people are aware by now, the footprint of the medium Naboo was increased in size to prevent players building walls with them. A fair and reasonable reason for doing so, but as normal SOE went too far. Spots such as this and this became unusable.

I therefore decided to try and fill these spots with small Naboo houses instead. However, although they fit perfectly into the gap, as you can see the medium Naboos are not centralised on their footprint. This results in a freakishly lop-sided placement of the house that just looks stupid.

Why, oh why could the new footprint for the medium Naboo not be placed equally around all sides of the house? If it was then the small Naboo could be placed like this and altho not perfect it would provide an acceptable alternative to the gaping holes that will enevitably open in cities.

I understand the chances of anyone with enough authority to try and get this changed ever reading this thread is unlikely, let alone take any notice of it, but surely anyone that does can understand fairly easily how big an error SOE has made and how badly it effects a large number of player cities?

I would also be more than happy to show someone with this authority around my city and demonstrate first hand the problems that have been caused, but really there is quite a simple and easy solution that while not perfect will make a lot of people happier about this change...

Centralise the Medium Naboo House in its footprint!!!

I must admit I am in dispair as I know eventually all the effort and planning that went into my city and many others like it will be for nothing as with the current state of things they are impossible to maintain.

Also, how much worse will it get with the new bunker houses? People will be wanting to free up lots to place them so yet more houses will disappear from these cities. Unless they want to give mayors the (limited-time?) ability to redeed and replace every structure in their city this is the only alternative I can see.

Oh and don't get me started on condemed harvesters hosted on static lots, thats a rant for a whole other thread

*Edit: Stupid auto-formatting removed a chunk from the middle...*

I read a lot of post about the Medium Naboo house problem. All i can say, personally it hasnt effect the city i am mayor of, but i can understand all the frustration it causes.

Some towns are there for over a year, the mayors put a lot time and thoughts into building them, make them look nice, and organized.

Its like someone comes and removes the CU from teh game against the will of the devs lol. Plz SOE give them back the old size to make a lot people happy.

My guild had a fresh start from scratch after CU to get rid of all ghost houses that were left of people left before the CU. And we felt it was time for a new start. We live on Talus now. But i understand all concers about this and want to support it a bit.

This has been myfrustration all along as well.

The new footprint is off-center and horrible, however if it was implemented when it was 'supposed' to (2 years ago), then it would be dealable.

However, since then, cities have been created with houses close to each other. Now when houses vanish near existing medium Naboo houses, not even a small house can be placed. This will eventually shrink the city population, since there is no available land to place houses.

Consider our city blueprint: Riverbend, Naboo

The mediums are the houses next to city hall, etc.

I'm sure you know what happens when a medium house (or even a house near an existing medium) is removed. The overlapping 'new' footprint prevents any structure from being placed, thus threatening the future of our city's population.

I feel ya.
