OK back in the day when there where no player cities - NPC cities where needed
But now Coronet has become the center of the universe for alo of servers - I'm on three all the same.
get rid of the spaceport, the cantina, and the hospitol and allow player cities space ports, player cities will come alive.
I have said it before increase the range between citites that way coronet will not be ringed with vendors.
the npc cities can be usful for quests and scenic stuff but - I believe that would bring mycities alive agian.
thanks

I don't think it's a matter of killing the NPC cities, its all in making the PC cities more enticing to players.
Some suggestions i've seen are Doc Buffs should require a camp or medical center (100). Medical droids might let you apply the buffs with a bonus (110)but make it even better if they are done in a PC medical center (125). Same with the Cantinas inNPC cities, theycan do a fine job but make it sothe ones in PC cities do it even better.
These changes alone would go a long way towards revitalizing player cities. I know PC cities will never get starports, the Devs have set that one down in stone many times.
Edit: and I 5 starred you, takes guts to make such a radical porposal

As it stands now, the NPC cities are a giant waste of space. Think about it, where is everyone in the capitols? Cantina/spaceport/medcen. That is about it. The rest of it is open space. What is there to do? get healed, and go out. I know the last time I went to Kaadara it was deserted, why? There is not much there.
I would say, not really destroy them, just make them more useful. Allow players to put up vendors in the capitol cities, that would be great. Give Doc's a bonus for healing/buffin in medcens, give more perks for the big cities. For the non-capitol cities, allow players to live there in addition to the above mentioned things. Yes, I have heard about how bad it would be for lag. But it is hard to get lag when no one is there. This would get people to actually go there.

Player space ports? I can see it now: take your ship to the DWB then when you're bored head on over to the Geo Caves instantly, or even the village.... Not a good plan.

A few things:
1) The DEVs were asking players in the forums what would make NPC cities better- They want people to use them more, now most are ghost towns.
2) PC starports only would be a bad idea, some 12 year old would start city banning people just for fun.

I would disagree with PC starports. The planets need a hub of activity, the starports are that hub. True, as it stands now, the vast majority of cities with starports are ghosttowns, with the exception of the Capitol cities. It would be a bad idea to have starports in player cities. This way, you land in CNET, you know what to expect, docs buffin in the starport, mind buffs in the cantina, afk people spamming their wares, and just a regular hub of activity. There are times when people are looking for services and when they see a tag, they /tell that person if they can help them.
-'Quests' are not necessarily a great answer either, it might be part of it, but not the main answer.
-when you touch down to the local starport and leave the city, what do you see? hit 'ctrl-m' and you will see vendors all around the city. Move the vendors IN the city. Preferably, have different parts of a district for a certain type of good, i.e., armor vendors, weapon vendors, and so forth.
-In the non-capitol cities, allow player housing
-allow bonuses to buffing in medcens, or greater bonuses,
-allow different bonuses for the hotels, say a gradual healing bonus, of 1 pt for every 5 minutes spent in it.
-open up Jabba's Palace more. allow smugglers and bounty hunters to shuttle in and out of ther, allow dancers and ents to perform there, smugglers and bouty hunters to get missions out of there and other 'perks', as a side note on that, allow a 'seedy' part of town where smugglers can get a bonus to slicing and maybe other things (obviously, behind the space port)
-before the patch, you would see AFK people killing meatlumps, once as I was riding in, one of those fool meatlumps started shooting me. What did the corsec guard, not more than 5 ft from me do? he just stood there. doesn't the 'sec' stand for SECURITY? Not that I needed it, but it would have been nice for him to have done something, as when on a speeder 'you cannot attack or react'. let the corsec people actually attack the meatlumps and other red dots, if not, get rid of them.
-often cities will have more than one cantina, yet one will be VERY busy, the other one will be deserted. Do something to even it out, maybe one a bonus to dancer buffs, and the other a bonus to ent buffs. Maybe have the cantina serve weak buffed foods as well, one could sell beverages that might increase attributes a bit, the other a food item, but have it so that the patron MUST remain in there for a certain amount of time, say min of 15 min, and the buff will last for 1 hour, every 5 min after that, the buff will last for another 15 min up to 2 hours, of course, it would not take effect until the person left the cantina.

NPC cities just need new quests and missions that are worth doing they revamped tats quests and madesome really good ones but now they need to do it for the other planets. PC with Starports on the other hand I dont think would be a great idea just to the fact that I can think of alot of ways people could abuse having them.
