When you sit in the med center for a period of time, you will notice that npcs run around the med center, why not have the npc sit on the bed, and the npc doctor trainer will go and heal the npc? the doctor can go look at the medical terminal, etc..
Have the junk dealers look like they are looking through their junk...
Have the weapons trainers look like they are fixing their weapons...

that'd be way cool!
Should'nd be SO extremely hard to create if you just let them go through a loop.

A lot of people complain that there just isn't enough Star Wars immersion here - that their gameplay experience is ruined by seeing jedi everywhere, by the fact that all canon Star Wars equipment is weak and undesirable, or that ub3r l33t kiddies are totally spoiling the setting with their crap. Well, I happen to agree with them - it's really jarring to try to rationalise all the Star Wars movies and paraphenalia with what we see every day in game. Very discordant. But let's face it, we're not going to change to try to become more canon. And it's already been said that SWG is not 'precisely' Star Wars - it's our version of Star Wars, our own little story. So with that, I propose that devs meet us where we want to be - let's change the SWG setting so it's more in tune with MMO canon, not try to change us to be more in line with Star Wars canon. It's much simpler, easier, and much more guaranteed to give total immersion.
For instance:
- When I am killed by a NS elder, I want her to spit on my corpse and laugh at me in spatial, saying things like 'lol u n00b, cant even kill an elder, u sux, change ur template you loser'. Then I want her to show her ub3r stun baton or whatever to the other Nightsisters.
- When I kill any NPC, I want it to send me an instant hate tell saying that he'd pwn me once his template was done and he was buffed, or something to that effect.
- When I go to an NPC trainer for a skill, I want it to first ignore me. Then if I persist, I want it to put an afk tag up. If I continue, it should then say, 'sorry i dont have artisan/droid engineer/musician/squad leader any more, i just did it to grind jedi'.
- I want Nyax to constantly /report people for griefing him.
- I don't want to see Dark Jedi Masters or DJK NPCs just standing around by themselves any more. I want to see them either hanging around in gank squads of 6 minimum, or sitting in a cantina. If they're just hanging around, they must be constantly dueling each other.
- When I kill any of the aforementioned DJM or DJKs, they have to send 20 minutes of hate tells complaining that their template sucks, or that I'm a hateful noob who's griefing them, and accusing me of being an exploiter. They should also threaten to get all their friends and come pwn me. If I kill themwith a group, they should instantly challenge me to a duel, saying 'id so pwn u 1v1 u chickensh1t coward'. If they kill me, they should mock me in a similar way to NS elders, but it'd be really great if they could come and post on the forums to gloat. Not sure if that's possible though.
- Conversely, the FS NPCs on Dantooine and similar areas should run instantly as soon as a player comes into view. If they do get killed, they should also send 20 minutes of hate tells complaining about how much xp they just lost, and threatening to come kill me when they reach knight.
- When you do the Corvette missions, the corvette NPCs that die under the terminals you need to access should turn off the ship destruct sequence even though they're dead.
- The random white citizens and NPCs at the starport currently don't give enough flavour. Junk Dealers should constantly shout poorly spelled spam, something like 'LOOTKITS HERE! Buy any phat lootkit frome me, only 50k!' or 'Buying brokan datapdas and talloscopes, 10cr, offer to me plz!'
- Similarly, the random citizens should send you tells as appropriate to your tag. If you are a doc, they should hit you with 'u buffing?' or my favourite, 'how much?' for that full streetwalker immersion. Alternatively, they should send crafters tells like 'can u make me some ub3r mabari with these acklay hides?' or 'how much for ur best krayt vks?' When you respond, they should abuse you for overcharging and say that their friend does it better for a tenth your price.
- Factioned NPCs currently don't respond like players. When you attack factioned NPCs, they should instantly spawn Rebel Admirals/Nova Troopers around them, so as to more accurately represent GTEFing.
- When I take a mission from a random NPC in a city, she should first hit me with a long and ramblingbiopic that is way off topic, and should probably involve the fact that she's secretly a princess of a ruined royal family, but also moonlighting as a spy for the Empire, but also secretly a Rebel sympathiser since her parents, siblings and pets were slaughtered by Imperials long ago, before she learned her tricks at the knee of an old mysterious man in the circus, and that she's now looking for true love. But also that she doesn't remember any of this because of terrible amnesia.
Some people might say that these changes would ruin the Star Wars immersion. I say, once the NPCs are indistinguishable from the players, immersion is complete. It's the only way.

It would be easy to at least give some life to the trainers we put in our cities. Just create invisible "actors" we can place in the middle of let's say two trainers. This actor would send out a pulse 3m in diameter every 10 seconds. This pulse would cause any npc trainer in range to turn towards the invisible "actor" and perform the various conversation animations that you see from npcs in the starports.
Later, we could actually have npcs who patrol our town. We can set some who have the generic quests, and spynet operatives. Plus we could eventually have our cities officially declare for a faction by placing a player city specific type base. This base would cause the patrols of factional npcs to appear in the city. Their strength would be based on the level of the city (and whether it's a stronghold city). This would allow for random raids on the player city from opposing factions.
But really, this isn't going to happen. When was the last time they even did anything to player cities?

Oh I believe the NPCs are already alive!
The Stormtroopers will fine you if you /poke them. And I also had a Kunga (or Mokk or something) not only LAUGH at me after killing me, but then proceeded to DANCE ON MY CORPSE!!! I am not even kidding. You know how sometimes the NPCs will randomly break out into the exotic4 dance? Well, this Kunga was exotic4 dancing on my corpse!!
