Although many people would like this as I do, the DEVs wouldn't let it happen and people would be upset.

I am not sure how it now works with Jefi, but as a combatant I had the TEF flag up last night after attacking some stormtrooper NPCs. I could not enter my house, or any for that matter until the normal five minute period had expired. Once the flag was gone I could enter as normal.

Currently, as you are probably all aware, the NPC buildings are all completely public and not affected by TEFs. However, player buildings are sometimes public and always affected by TEFs. I suggest first that a TEF (even though they claim they do not exist anymore) will not eject you from a player structure, as this is extrememly annoying and ridiculous. Secondly, I suggest that no structures be private. This simply allows people to run and hide from combat, for jedi to sit afk in a guildhall or house all day so that BH's will have to waste their time, and to ensure some overt that they can safely taunt people from their doorstep. I really do not see any rational reason in making player structures have different rules than NPC structures (admin and entrance fee differences aside).

Agree....TEF is gone, now Jedi can run and hide in their private houses. All houses ought to be public!

(It is their home, they can hide out in there and drink tea if they want to. Why shouldANYONE be forced out of hiding just because some BH is chasing them?)I really do not see any rational reason in making player structures have different rules than NPC structures (admin and entrance fee differences aside). (The rational reason is this. It's their house. They paid for it, they pay maintenance on it, and they should be entitled to the privacy that their own home provides them. Simple enough?)
If I don't want you in my house, then I should have that option. Period. My PA hall is open to the public but my personal home is only enterable by members of my guild. IMHO, this request is ridiculous. If I don't want random passer by's to walk into my home and remove DOT's from my weapons, or be screwin around in there.. then I should have that option. If a man/woman cannot have privacy in their own home, then why should we have player structures at all?

Vegitaa,
No other games have these "private" houses. Is there a special forcefield surrounding your house? Why do you need to have a private area in an online video game? Your argument about removing DOTs from your weapons is moot---that's a bug that needs to be fixed, it has nothing to do with public and private houses. For the people who know about that bug and still display DOT weapons on the wall in a house accesible by any jedi, that is a risk they are taking. There is honestly no need for a private structure, and it merely causes problems. If you want privacy, get it in real life.

Hey man, you are entitled to your opinion. I still don't want people in my home.
Why? Because I want a place in-game where me and my guild can hang out without every passer by walking in.
Thats all their is to it. Oh yeah, no need for personal attacks either. Note I did not attack anyone in this conversation.
I can see your point of view, but my point of view is currently it is an in-game mechanic that has been there since beta.
I see no need to change this except that people want to force others to PvP, which again is why TEF's are gone in the first place.
If people didn't abuse that system there would have been no need to change it.
It's not about PvP vs PvE anyway, most PvP'ers want to fight someone who is a challenge and actually.. wants to fight.
You're entitled to your opinion, but this is mine.
edit: oh yeah, btw.. there are other MMO's with similair private structures. Anarchy Online, Neocron... etc...
Some other MMO's actually allow you to rent apartment like space in NPC area's which are then for your use only.

Maybe the jedi should just drop dead once thier mission is taken and nobody will have a reason to complain. After all, 5 BH's can already take 1 Jedi's mission, and how many can help the Jedi, oh. .that would be none other then a healing Jedi.

The TEF flag should get renamed to "stay in public" flag. It's intent is to prevent players from dropping a DoT on an enemy, then running into a building that the enemy can't follow, or allowing for easy escapes from an enemy while in combat.
Player buildings are a little different from public building because of their additional options. You can't set the Bestine cantina private, for example. You can't ban a particular player from the Theed medcenter. Both of those options are available for player houses so additional restrictions are required. Also, a player building can be switched from public to private pretty easily, so to simplify the system you're blocked from entering any player-owned building until the flag wears off. Otherwise you could get into combat, enter your public house, then switch it to private.
The way to fix the problems is not to make all player houses public, it's to make the "stay in public" flag consistent for all applicable situations. If a player gets into combat with another player (whether because of /duel, Jedi vs. BH, or Special Forces combat), they should only be allowed to go where their enemy can follow, otherwise griefing is a possibility.
And having a private house isn't unreasonable. I doubt you leave your real-life house / apartment / condo / whatever unlocked at all times for random people to come and go as they want. You've got a lock and a key. Close friends may have copies of your keys. In SW, it's just set up as an access restriction; the in-game rationale could be facial recognition on the door, an access key, whatever.
Things like AFK Jedi sitting in a private house are an annoyance, but probably a lesser evil. And I don't think someone can "run and hide from combat", since if you engage them they should get the flag, blocking them from going into a house. An overt imperial (special forces in the new GCW terminology) could possibly sit on their doorstep and taunt passing rebels, but if they step foot outside the building, you can engage them (locking them out) or just pass by.
