Thread: So what's the plan to deal with house decay?

The condemning of abandoned houses and factories effectively removed any hope of being able to claim wasted space. I can understand if they did this because they had a bigger plan in mind, like eventually letting mayors move houses, so I won't be so cynical about the whole thing.. but I have to ask, have there been any improvements or developments in this area?

I guess I can't really imagine that they would get rid of house decay and not have a contingency in mind.. the recent string of patches restored most of my hope in the development team, how will they deal with this problem?

That's a good question. I never thought of what would happen if I could make my house never decay and then go inactive forever. I bet as long as I still pay for my subscription, they'll not do a thing, but as soon as I stop forking it over, they delete all my stuff

I personally think the house should be condemned for 2-3 weeks then poof. (As long as there nit planning anything else). This 2-3 week period will give the player a chance to get back to the game and pick up all matinences again.

I think they plan to delete structures when the charector purges begin.

Here is dev plan (from other threads):

Our character and housing purge system is coming. Houses which belong to inactive accounts will be removed from the world, regardless of maintenance fees. More details will be out on this within a few weeks, well before it hits the servers.

This issue has crossed my mind more than once and I finally have the time to address it. How long does it take for a deleted character to be removed from the system? Also, if the account is deactivated, how long is it before the system purges the character? Any response is appreciated.

This is coming soon (within a couple of months). The design will go into In-Concept soon. Short version is housing will be rolled up after 6 months and characters deleted after a year of non-payment. Yes, there are a lot of other provisos and details, but please wait for the design to show up and we will take feedback on it in concept.
