I don't know if this has been discussed before but I was wondering if the devs had any plans for all the empty houses that can be found in the static cities. I was thinking that players might be able to "rent" them, so you could have a house in a main city, ie. Coronet or Mos Eisley. Personally I think it would be very nice to own a house in one of those cities, maybe make the "rent" higher than normal houses and the number you can "own" tied to your lots. It could create a very interesting real estate market in the game as players try to grab prime housing in NPC cities. Just a thought.

Okay, well i just saw something similar posted several pages ahead, so maybe this can just be considered as added interest to the idea.

I think this could work an would'nt effect Architects too much. The key would be too offer fairly limited storage. Maybe no more than 50 items. Make them temporary apartments that players are not really meant to live in all the time. So in other words it should be fairly costly to rent an extended stay. The Nicest ones could cost a ton an give the rich a money sink. I also think that empty Apartments should be rented out by NPC's until players need them so we dont have a bunch of empty ones. I would also like to see hangers where we could land our ships for small fees as well.
I mean just imagine throwing a party in one of the top floors of the Skyscrapers in Coronet. Not to mention you put some quest giver NPC's indoors for a change to add some atmosphere.

Interesting idea. In the dev's interest perhaps, this may increase the amount of money sinks. However, the already fragile architect economy would take a bigger hit if they're not somehow involved.

That would be a welcome change of pace, and public storage is a good idea too hehehe.... Maybe something like a post office where people can go to their security deposit boxes...

That would possibly destroy the whole point of player cities. I dont think its a very good idea.
In my Opinion, I think there should not be allowed placing houses outside city borders.

I help run a player city and I'm the cities guild leader. I do not want to see all our work get destroyed because our citizens move into a NPC city. I think the only way this could work is if it has limited storage, less than small housing, and could be used more like storage than an actual house. I wouldn't mind having really cheap storage structures in an NPC city as long as they don't replace the homes we have in player cities. Player cities would lose thier purpose if players could move into NPC cities and a major part of the game would collapse. Days, weeks, months, and even years have gone into some player cities and it would be a horrific waste and a terrible dissapointment to the mayors and leaders who have worked so hard to bring everyone an excellent city. It's a fun idea but would be disastrous to the game.

it would be a good idea to make the NPC cities something more than a place you have to go only because there are starports there.
maybe player politicians should be able to govern the NPC cities. after all, its we who live in this galaxy, so why shouldnt we be able to live in the existing cities? its only logical. and let architects design new parts of the cities, so that they have something to do as well. the NPC cities are too locked and static as they are now. lets get some freedom in the game to do what we would be able to in a real world. oh well. maybe in ten years? hehe.
