I actually like that idea.
here is an example - I was sitting in the Mining Outpost waiting for my buffs when the doctor ran out of stamina packs. she had someone go to her house for her to retrieve it for her and bring it back. Although she never left and the guildmate was close to her house, this could have went alot quicker if she had a droid like mentioned above.

Thisidea I had is the use of droids like the droid in star wars battlefront, that allows yah to take control of it and use it to fight for you for a short period of time
My idea is to take that basic idea of using it as your eyes, but no weapons, and only to roam around your own houses, or houses your admin on, now to some this may seem pointless, but alot of players have houses in different areas, you may have ahouse in a city on tat, then a few houses on dant, a house on naboo, etc, now alot of these ppl end up wanting an item or 2, but are either unsure of what house they are in, my idea is for a droid that could be 1 use per like bomb droids, that you can tell to goto one of your houses, and act as your eyes for a short period of time, just enuf to check the house for what your looking for, I know personally how frustrating it is travelling around looking for 1 item
Also it could have a retrieve feature, making the droid truly useful to all, and giving DE's a droid that should sell quite well, maybe a max of 3 items or something that it can bring to you, maybe a few minute pause and then a message saying the droid delievers the items to your inventory, but due to extreme conditions, has self destructed, something along those lines
edit: i wasnt really sure were to put this, with all the board changes im still trying to get used to it all, figured since this was related to houses it should go here

i figure the droids can be like how seekers work, not a droid that requires you to generate it and use it from your datapad, but rather be able to have the droid in your inventory and just click on it and select the house you wish to search, listed by house name
-or-
make it a generatable droid like most droids, and make it cost credits per use, just as if the person had to travel via shuttle to get to there destination, disadvantage with this is that DE's would sell fewer droids
