Any1 think this is going 2 cause a massive player city boom?
i think so, and also peps r going 2 grief da mayors really bad. I think they should just get pavements for mayors rather than just over crowd da prof like pilot, every1 got it few went up, going 2 make novice most common prof in game next 2 swords man

I have to disagree against no skill points for pol. For the following reasons:
1)Massive city limit will be reached on every planet
2)Players will not care about the city anymore aka once they max they will abandon the city and its people
3)Might get a maxed out mayor that will end up placing high taxes and messing around with the city
4)Players will start to complain or hope that other professions will have no sp.
So just dont change it devs.

As a Mayor who resigned due to the Skill Points taking up so much skill points for so little in return I am glad to see it as a 0 Point proff. NOW we will finally see some elections and campaigning.

No this wont cause a city crush. There may be some growth though.
Basically it still takes a fixed # of people to make a town.
HOWEVER this *could* break apart some player towns, especially multi-guild towns where the guild factions stop getting along and decide to go their own way rather than keep a coalition government.
It also makes it easier for a guild to break up because a faction can go off and make their own town.
This will be VERY interesting to see play out as we could feasibly see players start shuffling things around quite abit.
This good from the standpoint that no longer will a towns development be held up by absentee mayors (makes it so you dont have to give up your day job to be a mayor and makes it so the mayor doesnt have to be someones alt)
This also makes the Politician profession more about being political than just being a dude who puts up city hall. Mayors will actually have to campaign, and work at remaining the mayor, since just like in r/l, any citizen can run for that office now.
My suggestions to Mayors post 12.1 is that if you dont want your city flying into 100 peices or you dont want to get the boot, you better polish up your diplomacy skills and perhaps learn to make some compromises.

I am very happy about them making politician take 0 SP. It was a career that offered little in the way of rewards and this way people can have it and not have to give up other professions that they need to play.
Kudos to the Devs.
As for the fear that player cities will sprout up everywhere, I hope that it's more difficult than just having the skill tree to make a city.

Its generally a good idea.
I personally always wanted to do mayor, but up until now it was terribly risky to do. Wasteing skillpoints I needed for a no value profession. I just know I can do more good as a mayor then many I have saw.
Infact I think this will actually permit for an actual decrease of cities when you think about it. Now we can get more dynamic leaders. Citizens can now forge their cities in new directions. Bad mayors can be cast out. While good ones will allow their cities to grow.
This will probabally mean you will start seeing truely iconic cities emerge. Energetic cities. Plus with the skillpoint removal players that spent skillpoints on mayor in the past can finally let go of their outposts. Since they will be less vested in them.

There will be no MASS city population explosion... First there are city caps friend, meaning there is an intended amount of cities per planet. So no worries.
Second: So what 0 skillpoints, as the person above said, you still need people, and a person willing to take on the burden ofa city, it is alot of work, I know from experience.

I once owned a city, and I dropped it, because of skill pts. Now I'm kinda mad at what I did now that its 0 pts. I couldn't afford the upkeep anyway with all the solo group nerfs, that was the only way I was able to keep my township around. Till I had to finally drop good ol' Velitia on Lok because of skill pts!!!

the 0 SP for politician is just the prove that devs don t care about politicians
instead of fixing the few existing abilities and giving polis a real meaning and usefull skills
they just give us a free profession that has no meaning at all
and now they don t have to listen to complains anymore cause why should they give
some usefull abilities to a free profession ?
so give us the SP use back and fix politicians!
if devs are not able to, then remove them, cause the current system makes no sense

Wierd or not, I can agree with both opinions.
I really love the idea of real capaining and recruiting, but on the other hand I cry for the respect we politicians got before this. I'm afraid people will just do it because it's fun and free, but I really hope this won't lead to the losing of dedicated mayors. There should be something which guarantees noone esteblish a city without responsibility to it.
And I'm sure the devs didn't forget that politicians need to be revamped. We need lot more useful skills, some real power in our cities... I'm sure they are aware of that, this patch is a sign, that they didn't forget this profession, they just don't have the time to work on it.
I say let's gather the ideas together, and the devs will read those.
