Thread: New structures: Taverns, ID Tents, Malls

Hey all, I was just getting pretty bored and figured I might post a few of my ideas for new structures.


Image Design Tent: I dont see this being too hard. Make it like the banks and garages, and placeable by mayors, or allow novice (or master) Image Designers to place it for 1 lot. These tents would be like the ones in NPC cities. They also seem small and compact which would make them great for player cities.


Taverns: I know people could make small houses taverns, which actually works, (especially if you put lamps, statues, entertainment terminals on the steps of the house) but why not make a completely new structure placeable by the mayor or corresponding proffesions? It would be a mix between the hospital and cantina, similar to the one in Anchorhead, but allows for more diversity.


Malls: Malls are popular in almost every city, and people normally use guild halls or large houses for these. But it would make sense to make a structure dedicated for the use of malls, maybe be able to be placed by master merchants. These malls would have more of an appearance of a mall, maybe like one of those NPC structures you see in cities. Also, for an added touch, maybe make it so you can admin people to certain parts of the structure to prevent stealing. Same should go for all structures.


Vaults: Vaults to put money, donate items and what not. Placeable by mayors.

I just got done putting all this on another post, but it can apply here too so I'm reposting it here. (And no, I'm not trying to spam the forums.)


And I like the idea of a mall civic structure.







My two cents.. (Or maybe inthis case, my two lots.)


Granted some of this has already been touched on in this post, but this is just what I'd like to see (these buildings should only be available within city limits and cost 3 - 5 lot points):

Melee Masters (TK, Swordsman, Pikeman, etc.) - A dojo like building with 3 rooms (1 large sparring room, 2 smaller rooms), and a training dummy - could give actual xp (minor) or just for decoration.


Ranged Masters (Commando, Rifleman, etc.) - Alodge (roughly a medium house), and attached shooting range(like the dojo, targets could give xp or just be decoration).


ArtisanMasters (NOT including Merchant orChef) - A workshop with 3 rooms (1 large crafting room w/stations, 2 smaller rooms).


Master Doctors - A hospital similar (but smaller) to those found in npc cities, and an on site npc medical droid (to aid with crafting, etc.)


Master Combat Medics - The standard player owned medical center.


Master Creature Handlers - A zoo. (Roughly a large house or guild hall with cages instead of rooms.)


Master Merchant - A double wide tent. (Similar to the salons seen in npc cities.)


Master ID - A salon.


Master Ranger - A permanent campsite or a small outpost like building.


Master Dancer/Musician - A nightclub. (Similar to the cantina but with a different layout.)


Master Chef - The standard player owned cantina.


Master Smuggler - A casino or smuggler's den. (Either place is perfect for the criminal element.)


Master Bio Engineer - A laboratory. (Like something modeled after the cloning facilities.)


Master Bounty Hunter - A Spynet hideout with terminals and informants. (Like mentioned in the first post.)


Can't think of any other profs off the top of my head right now. (If I missed one, forgive me.)

Note that these are for masters of the advanced professions. Masters of the basic professions shouldn't get anything special. (It gives them something to grind for.)


Also I think that the master professions should be able to set up their own trainers for others to use inside these buildings. (Like a TK sensei inside a dojo.) The trainerswould require maintenance (twice that of vendors) and any money made would be divided between the master and the city.


Oh, and on that note, I think there should be two special civic structures available to cities once they reach a certain level (1 each per city):


1. Academy -It would automatically come with 10 trainers of the mayor's choosing and only the building would be added to the city maintenance, not the trainers. (Reducing some of the excessive weekly maintenance.)


2. Armory - Militia headquarters with permanent Quartermaster vendor that can be only accessible to the mayor andthose on the militia. (Vendor would have very limited space and can be used to storearmor, weapons, supplies,etc for cityemergency use.)

The Image Design Tent is an easy one. I think that will be added eventually do the game (how hard can it be when there are salons already in towns?).

The other two ideas, taverns and malls, are not needed at the moment. The cantina pretty much covers it. Perhaps they could, one day, add different floorplans (not just planet types) of cantinas to suit different people.

As for the Mall, well it would have to be bigger than a guild hall to be of any worth, and I'm not sure if big structures are what we need. I'm happy with guild halls/large houses but I do see what you are suggesting

I like the idea of the vault. A donation box of some sort (perhaps near the bank) would help alot of cities. Some people can't find the city terminal

Nice idea's. 5 stars to you.


Heres ane of idea to ponder on that might be cool to add as well:


1) How about different sized Taverns. i.e. Small=Bar

Medium=Tavern

Large=Cantina


A city would have the rights to place the different buildings based on the ranking of the city. A small city would only be able to place a bar, a medium city can place a bar and a tavern, and so on and so forth.

Those are some great ideas Ramdomatiku. I especially like the idea of a permanent ranger camp. I remember looking at those, and the camps look like miniature cities themselves I would kill to have a permanent one in my city to heal in and such. I also would love a hotel. Allow gambling stations and let people use rooms in the hotel. Maybe I'm just dreaming


Your right, ID Tent is an easy one, I'm certain thats gonna be added. I can sort of see taverns and malls not being the most important. Imight post some pictures on how to make your own tavern, hehe.
