Has anyone come up with or created a succesful layout for bases and turrets defending themselves?

I am currently creating a large walled area using medium naboo houses, within that wall will be our city bases, the wall will have 1 spot as an entry wide enough to fit a medium naboo house, I do not want this to be my only option for protecting the city assets during quite guild time. We have nearly 100 active players, our bases almost always get blown up between 3 and 7am.

I am looking for a solution other than the one I have as I think it takes something from the game being able to block the area in.

I would be more than happy to receive and invite to a city to come and have a look around, any city, any server.

I'm not sure this is allowed...Even doing this will not stop the bases from going down. All you need is a few knights run in first and the turrets are gone.

I saw in a post somewhere before by a mod or a dev that said it is ok as long as there is a way in & an way out. So as long as you do not put that last house in there, it would be allowed.

I do feel your pain about the base takedown times. Not a fan of it myself. When we go out, we do it during primetime. However I have logged on in the am after logging out late to be unpleasantly surprised.

The best solution is many many large turrets.

You could create a maze of mission terminals LOL.

That'd slow them down!

From my experience - the best way to keep your bases up is a well thought out inter-faction communication system. My city on Lok (New Suntir, Sunrunner) had the largest imperial base setup on the entire server with a total of 12 bases, that it became a central point for pvp. There was always people around (even shuttleport spammers... you know you've made it when.... **laughs**), but our city features weren't just pvp-orientated as we also made sure we had a well organised marketplace to encourage shoppers. Those bases fell victim to many 3am ninja turret runs, but we expected and accepted that by having a base set up as large as we did (or for any base really) that this kind of behavior would take place. We didn't need walls to enclose us or funnel the opposition through one entry - they were out in the open to encourage pvp and that is what bases are for, to be taken if they can, and those bases stood for well over 9months and survived many mindnight and prime-time raids. But I think it important to press on the fact that bases can and will be taken, as it is what they are designed for, so if having your base being attacked/destroyed is something that is going to tick you off more than anything, there is no shame in having faction terminals placed by your mayor instead All good things, including bases, come to an end (as did our long, longreign on the server), and it was a risk we not only took, but understood, when we first put them down. No regrets. I hope these words make sense to you **smiles**

The best way to keep your base alive is to communicate with other guilds in your faction, and set up a CTA system should you ever have more gate-crashers on your doorstep than you can turn away. Create a private channel and email system, so if word needs to get out quickly, then it can be done so - our guild was the one who initiated the guild leadership channel of our faction, and it served our alliances and cities well. Whilst layout does play a part, don't be fooled into thinking it is a major part, as good communication and organisation will tear down any offense or defense regardless of layout.

Also, as annoying as 3am ninja turret runs are (and beleive me, we spent hundreds of thousands of FP maintaining those bases in prime condition every day), its something you need to prepare for and this can be done several ways - by grinding a series of turrets for yourself and holding them as spares either in your packorbank (most of our city members carried turrets or covert scanners with them at all times), andusing your local smuggler to set up a faction reward vendor and then using the money earnt to repurchase faction points. However, a friendly warning is to not let the condition of your bases rule your gameplay, as it is thefastest way to burn you and your friends out if you feel you constantly need to grind faction/money to repair your base(s) as well as maintaining your presence at the base to the point of excluding yourself from other hunts/activities.

Best of luck,

Annie

Create a character on Naritus and come and takea look around the city of Crimson Keep on Naboo. We're a metropolis but have created a big city, which is highly defendable. The use of Medium Naboo houses is indeed fine as long as there is a way in and out of the city, which we have provided.
