Thread: What is the point of droids w/ structure maintenance?

Sorry, I'm not even a DE, but my friend and co-guild founder is. But if the structure maintenance module was added to the droids to make them more useful, why was it changed so that it begins to draw straight from the bank?
Just a pet peeve when things are added then made obsolete for no reason.

Take it easy and make the trip to your harvesters. Now as I can see you registered for SWG 1/23/05, you should have been here when there WEREN'T SPEEDERS!!!! and you had to HIKE 3+K meters. And YOU DIDN'T have PLAYER CITIES TO FLY TO TO VUT YOUR TRIP IN HALF!!! Anywa... just chill, Droids arent they main focus right now.

Well, they aren't totally obsolete now. True, you no longer need the structure maintenance droid to pay on structures you own as it draws from your bank now. However, you can still assign the droid to pay maintenance on other structures you have admin on.
Say you are managing several houses or harvesters on lots borrowed or rented from friends or guild mates. Your arrangement might be that you maintain the expenses for these structures. You do not want them to reach zero and start drawing on the lot owner's bank. So you can assign the droid to maintain those structures.

But does it actually work? I remember reading that it was bugged.

I've been playing since August of 2003, I just never used the boards until now.
MY point is if there is a way to handle it without going there, then why do it

Yes, they work. If you do not break them. 
The bug is: if you have a structure maintenance droid assigned to any structures (harvesters, factories, houses or tents) and you redeed the structure(s) it breaks the droid. It will never work again.

Then you can safely redeed the structure. And then you must go running around and reassign the droid to your structures again.

Well they make a handy little storage bot when you break the maint module. lol
