Thread: Whats the news on this so called purge ?
So, *is* there a time limit on how long a dead structure will stay there?
I don't mind the current system where stuff doesn't get destroyed so easily--BUT... There needs to be an in-between between it and the old system. It sucks to lose stuff, but it also sucks to have these damned structures sitting there all condemned or unused.
Someone suggested a "chit/voucher" system. Your harvester gets destroyed? Your house and belongings? The items go into some mystical holding bin and tou get a chit dropped into your inventory for them. You have to go to a pawnbroker NPC, maybe paying a small fee per item to get everything back. Or the items go into your bank, but if you go over the 100 item limit, you can't use the bank (except to remove from your SDB) until you get it down to the limit.
Likewise, if a player hasn't logged in in some time, there needs to be an option for mayors to move structures, or even remove them per the chit system (to avoid griefing).
We have some merchant tents in front of our shuttleport. One of them belongs to someone who no longer plays who was a successful merchant. I did the math, and assuming they were worth 5 mil, unless this person carried their money in cash, that tent is there for 42 years. If she's worth twice that--uh-huh. That tent will still be there when my grandkids are getting ready for retirement.
And we can't rename it, nothing. We can at least reuse them so long as we find someone with admin, but if we don't have any architects named Bob in town, having a tent called "Bob's Deeds & Architect Goods" is rather misleading and of limited use.
there are rumors that houses vanish after several months of being condemned
but i think it s more related to bugs or account deleting then to an implemented system
well i hope the purge dosent happen to soon.
i have some houses that i got from friend that left game
No.
