Thread: Naboo cities

Had to do this via edit as for some strange reason I can only post very short messages unless I edit messages.

Anyway

I am the Mayor of a very large city on Naboo on the Farstar server.

Since the change with the footprint of the medium naboo house the running of the city has become a most serious problem. It is now almost impossible to place a house within the bounderies of our town. Previous houses that have been removed leave the old foot print space that can not be used anymore.

My once beautiful city, famed for being a maze in great PVP battles is now turning into a holy mess.

Is there any considerations being given to the reintroduction of the old footprint for medium naboo houses, the ability to build walls as long as players did not get blocked in is what made some cities so much fun to raid and defend. Without them we have the unrealistic battles of you can attack from anywhere and are unable to defend.

I know there is probably very little anyone here can do to support my (and many other mayors) problems but I am sure others are suffering the same.

Thnx for reading my moan

Danto this is why the footprint was changed to begin with. Too many cities were using the Naboo Medium home as a fortress wall preventing players from entering and exiting and creating PVP or Galactic Civil War death mazes. While the debate of expoit or using something as designed as intended rages on in the forums daily, your example is a primary reason for the change. I have seen bases dropped and completely surrouned by medium Naboos.

I too am aware of places like that, but that was never the case in my city, I know that is no guarentee other cities would not do it.

At the end of the day, taking away the fact that these cities did add something to PVP if done fairly they are now in a position where they are turning into a major eye saw and increasingly becoming harder and harder to manage.

Walls are a bad thing.

I have passed on the community concerns over the footprint change. While I have not heard an official reply, I would think that if we were going to see a change we would have by now. The patch note on it implied that the footprint size for this house was always intended to be 5x6, but whether that implication was intended or not I don't know. At this point, even if we did see a reduction in the footprint, it would not be back to the 3x4 that would allow walls to be created. (And, yes, I know there's a similar issue with the Generic Medium houses).

I'm having the same problem on Eclipse. We are trying to "revamp" a city for over a year now (still waiting patiently for the character purge to happen...) and this makes it a whole lot more difficult and ugly for the city's layout.

And i truly understand the wall problem, but walls can still be made with medium generics...

Let's hope they reverse this is some way! Thanks to the corro for passing on our concerns!

YAY Another post on this subject. I guess we just need to get all of our citizens on the forums and increase this to 7000 posts to get a response from SOE.

We did not even have walls, they were all in blocks of ten in nice rows. Now what do we have but a mess. The open spots cannot be filled and due to the Planet Cap and the condemed structures everywhere we cannot grow. I have managed to use smalls to get our 84 citizens inside a lvl3, but I am now out of room and 4 new members cannot place in the city.

PLEASE DO THE PURGE !!!!

The arguement for a lot of people like me who have seen their city ruined is that this change was indeed needed, but as normal went too far. As I outlined in my own "moan" thread sometime ago (http://forums.station.sony.com/swg/board/message?board.id=citieshousing&message.id=8081) a change was surely possible that prevented the wall building but didn't ruin well set up cities that didn't take advantage of this, just like mine

without a doubt one of the most annoying fixes the devs have visited on us.

it is like they used a sledge hammer to crack open an egg.

Are the devs planning on putting out different housing designs that are also not usable as walls but whose footprints aren't so unforgiving?
