Thread: A few city ideas...
Hi all,
Had a few ideas about player cities, possibly been mentioned before but guess i will find out in the replies ![]()
1) Player cities having lots
Players currently use a large number of lots holding cantinas, medi centres, guild storage houses, crafting houses, museums etc. My question is why cant a city have lots like a player and hold some buildings?
The idea is that as a city’s size increases so does it number of lots e.g. town has 5 lots, city has 10 lots, metropolis has 20 lots (rough figures but you get the idea).
The mayor is in charge of adding buildings to the cities lots and is able to set the buildings priority level i.e. the mayor see's the buildings in a list and can move the buildings up and down - top buildings mean most important, buildings at the bottom mean least important. If the city size drops the server refers to the mayors priority lists and packs up as many buildings (from the lowest to the highest) needed to be back inside the cities lot limit.
Because the buildings are packed and not destroyed the city has the ability to find a person willing to place the building back down using their lots and they can always transfer this back to the city when the size increases.
2) City orders of merit
There have been occasions in the past where non residents have come to the aid of a city (normally based around the GCW but not always) and it would be nice if the mayor could honour players that have helped their city by giving them an order of merit.
The order of merit would be like a badge (viewed in the player bio) but is not considered a game badge and is listed below them under its own heading.
When you view a players profile you would see (under badges) the heading 'Order of merit(s)' with things like ..Been honoured by the mayor of or ..Been honoured by the guild of
I know its not a huge, game changing idea but it would be nice to show appreciation to players and guilds that go out of their way to help your city/guild.
3) It would be nice if player cities had some buildings you cannot find in NPC cities and I have been thinking about the idea of a city arena.
The arena would allow the admin user to set up a 'fight club' style tournament with set rules.
Options available to the admin user would be things like: number of entrants, fight type (1 vs 1, all vs all, league), entrance fee (how much a player must pay to enter), profession restriction (no jedi, no docs things like that), food restriction (can food be used - yes/no), healing restriction (can players heal - yes/no), prize (what does the winner get i.e. percentage of entrance fees, fess plus extra cash, item), Deathblows allowed (yes/no) and applicant setting (can anyone apply, is it invite only, is it guild or citizens only).
The idea behind the arena is that it would allow players to run a structured fight club, the arena could be an instanced area so not lagging up city centres and it would allow players to practice PvP and settle disputes in an organised but fun way.
Now people wouldn’t want to see arenas in every city and a way round this is make the arenas 15 lots. What i hear you cry, players cant hold that many lots! Well maybe if cities had their own lots the arena could be used by these. Using city lots to hold the arenas would mean that on metropolises can hold them and even then they have to way up if they would rather have the city holding the cantina, medi centre and town hall or have players hold them and place an arena instead.
As the number of player city building types increased the mayors would have more choices as to which buildings use up their cities lots - do you hold an arena or do you hold a starport (ok maybe that’s going to far but it would be nice :smileywink![]()
