Thread: elections bugged
I started a new city about 3 weeks ago with a player with only novice pol. Everyone in my guild then voted in another player with almost the master box to get the city sorted.
Is this happening to most people?
Pretty gamebreaking and disheartening tbh
Something you weren't entirely clear on... You said that your whole guild voted for the new person. Is the city guild only, or are there other residents? As Khristen said, for the first election after a person declares citizenship, their vote will default to the incumbant, unless they manually cast a vote. For each following election, they default to ABSTAIN. For example:
You found a city. Your intentions are for it to be a gulild city, but your guild has only four people. Fine, you start the city and grab six others from Coronet or another server, or whatever. Those other six are essentially nobodies that were just helping you out. They drop their houses and declare and you never see them again. Now your guild comes in and all vote for the new mayor you have. But that's only four votes, and the other six (because they just declared their residency) default to the incumbant. 6-4 means that the incumbant wins. Now then. You have an incumbant and this new mayor registers to run in the second election. The original ten citizens you have will all automatically abstain, unless their owners tell them otherwise. But, because you are looking ahead, you recruit ten more people in. All of their votes will automatically default to the incumbant, again unless directed otherwise.
I dunno... Maybe my explanation was a bit convoluted there. LOL... Basically what you should do is this: Immediately have the new mayor register for the election. Ask all citizens to vote for him or her, as soon as possible. It is always best if the incumbant does this, as his or her word is better than someone else's. Every time you hav a new person oin the city, immediately have them vote for the new person. After the next election cycle, you SHOULD have a new mayor. And ALWAYS track the election on the polling terminal. It gives up to the minute results throughout the election cycle and will help identify problems before they occur.

In the mail that states the election is over, who was listed as the winner? There is a bug that requires a server reset for transfer of the Mayoral position. As far as with the actual election, there is also a bug where new citizen votes will default to the incumbent; they should be able to manually change their votes, though.
