ourcity hall (and all citybuildings)on dantooine disappeared sometime this morning. there was just over 4 million in the treasury so it couldn't have burned down and the only explaination that i can think of is that our previous mayor that left our city took them down... i really hope that's not the case (he left right after the new mayor cycle started so he was technically still the mayor).
if it was the previous mayor could this be considered griefing? he started the city 7 months ago and when he left to start another city we compensated him for all the deeds he used on the city (about 3mil i believe) with the agreement that we keep all the city stuff. also, is there a way to find outwho took down a city hall if this is what happened?
i'm at a total loss of what to do, any advice would be greatly appreciated

If he took it its not considered griefing. Had that happen to to my old guild/city. Mayor just went nuts, disbanded guild, moved shuttleport infront of guildhall and took all with him. Wrote a harrasment, but CSR told me thats the right of the mayor... Im sorry for you, i know how it hurts to see your hometown burned down, and i know moving is a pain in the a**. Hope the best for you.

Only the Mayor can delete the city hall. (It cannot be redeeded)
If your city doesn't have enough credits in the treasury to pay for all city and civic structures maintenance, you have7 days (until the next city update) to deposit enough funds into the treasury or the city hall (and all civic structures: gardens, fountains, lights, shuttleport, bank, cloning center, etc.) will be deleted too.
If your citizenship count drops below the minimum required to retain your city rank: Same as above, except the only structures and city functions that are marked invalid are any outside the lowered rank perimeter or that were enabled according to rank.
The Mayor can only withdraw 50k credits per day, so if there was still 4 million in the treasury when it was destroyed, all that money is gone too.
A Mayor cannot place a city hall if he is still Mayor in another city.
When a Mayor leaves (resigns, quits playing, moves to another city) if there was not another election for a new Mayor before he left, your city is left without a Mayor. But the election should have defaulted to the incumbent. You needed to have someone else get Novice Politician and register to run within the first two weeks of the election cycle.
My guess is, your old Mayor destroyed your city hall. And once he did that, all other civic structures were automatically destroyed too. Your city was disbanded. It is gone.
Edit: Oh. Also, if the Mayor deletes his character, that will also delete the city he was Mayor of.

If you drop all politician skills or delete your character as a mayor, the city will burn down. Possibly the same thing happens if you leave the town as a mayor.

He cannot start another city if the other one exists in his name.
If he did not lose the election and hance a new mayor the only way he can drop another city hall under the same character is to pull the first one up

well, we had all that covered. there was already one person running for mayor when the old mayor left, we had 71 residents... only thing we couldn't prevent was the deletion of of his character which is what happened. CSRdaveS looked into it and seen that the character was deleted.
thanks for all the replys, hopefully other people will be moreaware of this sort of thing
P.S. not sure how or why but the med centers and cantina's somehow survived, they are being vacated right now incase they decide to poof too.
P.P.S
we aren't really that concerned with the lost treasury, that can be replaced fairly easy. the only reason i mentioned that it was over 4mil wasso that going bankrupt would be eliminated as a possible cause. the only true part of this that hurt us was the fact that we have to relocate instead of rebuild. the location of the previous city wasn't in a contruction friendly area and now the inactive citizens are taking up too much space for us to repopulate.
oh well, live and learn. the replacement city will be located better, laid out better (instead of houses wherever they will fit) and have tent's and a mall situated better so it's not all bad at least

From what I remember the cantinas and med centers are owned by the player who dropped them, not the mayor of the city. So unless the owner removes them, they will stay.

Med Center and Cantina survived since they are not considered to be public housing. They are player owned buildings and with the exception of a town needing to be a certian size to be placed have no other ties to the town.

it sucks when that happens ... there are only 3 things that will make a city just poof like that
current mayor char deleted
current mayor destroys hall
bug in game
only 1 of those 3 will the csr's work to resolve ... and i am sure you can guess which one .. the other two are player controlled and it is in their right to do that .. sucks but it happens ...

This is probably a bug in the game. The same thing happened with my old city. We elected a new mayor. The old mayor was quitting and waited to get the email that we had elected the new mayor before deleting his character. He deleted his character as soon as he got the email and the entire city went poof with his character. CSR's determined it was a bug, and they promised to replace everything.I think we were probably the firstcity this bug appeared for, and this process took quitea long time. By the time it was all sorted out, our new mayor suddenly went MIA and our town kind of died.
