Just a couple of house-ish things that might be quite fun.

1. Make the "outside" of a house part of the house itself, not the city its in.

Right now, if you build a Guild Hall or a house, and its in a city, the area outside the front door, and any balconies, roof spaces, etc are part of the player city, and not your guild. It may just be me, but my guild can't be in a city...its a Roleplay guild, and it just doesn't fit. We can't create a city, because it wouldn't fit...and would also be stupid. All I wanna do is put a few items out on the roof of the Guild Hall, to make it look like its a "landing pad" for Shuttles and such. But I can't.

I've seen people who've had a few bits up there...lamp posts and such, and it looked really good. There are all kinds of things that people could do on their roof, and on the porch areas outside, and such. Might be something worth considering for the future...maybe adding a few things like "patio furniture" and stuff as well.

2. Make taverns ownable.

Either as a Player City structure, or a player-owned structure. Preferably the last one. Because a tavern is a Cantina and Med Center in one, it would be ideal for "out of town" guilds (like mine, Lol), who want to have proper facilities for their members. Also, if you want to set up a "settlement" that isn't a player city (because you've hit the city cap on that planet, or because you just don't want to), having a Tavern would be a great way of having little "Hamlets" that aren't proper cities, dotted around. Plus, people could use them as a house, and open up a night club, or a bar, or whatever. All those floors too...it'd be a really nice structure to have.

3. Generic city set.

Quite a complicated one this. Make a "Generic" set of buildings for player cities. For all the people making cities that are styled after military camps, or stuff like that. Most of the buildings could just be re-textured other ones - Corellia for most things, and a Naboo City Hall re-textured, or something. I did consider a player city at one point, but there just wasn't the right blend of stuff. The Corellian stuff was okay (although I didn't want to be on Corellia), except for the Guild Hall, which is too...obvious. I would have gone Naboo, but it looks to "nice"...not industrial enough. The Generic stuff is good, because it looks very artificial, and pre-fab. A prefab set of city buildings would be good.

If you're going to make a structure that combines two existing buildings, there has been something negative about it to justify eliminating the function of two buildings. Probably would require more lot usage and give less benefit from med/entertainer bonuses.

The pre-fab idea is interesting, but what we probably need are more options in what we can set down. Like art objects other than streetlamps and gardens. Scout towers and search lights for instance.

Speaking of outside buildings, we should have access to structures that are open air but allow you to drop some items. Perhaps a mayor set deed to reduce abuse.

Like having an open-air cafe, for example? (Unless you can already make those)

Yes, yes.

The open-air limitations are probably in place to reduce the necessity of object spawn. I think a limited number of "external sockets" on structures could deal with this. Every house could getone or a fewlantern sockets and some outdoor furnuture sockets, depending on the size of the house.

The idea for cafesis similar to an idea I had for player malls. They would be like gardens (same footprints), but with walls. The walls would be used to prevent outside visibility of any interior modifications, keeping the lag police happier. Walls would fit inreal wellwith a Tatooine style, but maybe not so good for Nabooian or Corellian (clever artwork needed). Maybe the footprint for these types could be the same as garden footprints, but they would be placed as individual player structures and not by mayors.

I was never fond of the idea of one size of city hall for all sizes of cities. I think a city hall should start out small, then get upgraded, or replaced, as a step to move up to the next city level (or maybe be OK for its level of placement and the next higher level). This way, the prospective leader of an outpost could place just an outpost "administrative building" deed. Non-buildable planets might then be made buildable in a limited way by allowing buildings to go up only within outpost limits. Outpost building rights on restricted planets might also require faction points or something similar. Restricted planets might allow very limited numbers of outposts or higher-level settlements, or require faction-point "bleeding" if built withoutsome kind of official charter(i.e., rebel or criminal outposts). This would fit in real wellwith abackground storylinein which theGCW heats up and unrestricted travel becomes more difficult.

Perhaps faction outposts could be directly purchased and maintained with faction points, and function somewhat like cities in other respects. I'd like to see Hutt and other neutral factions become more developed if this became so.
