On my server there are several City's belonging to Guilds that have since disbanded. Due to the capping player Cities, it is becoming harder for new player Cities to grow.
Surely there is something that can be done to solve this problem? I don't think that when SWG was developed that ghost towns were intended.
Can the Correspondant please raise this as an issue....

1. There is no Correspondent for the Cities and Housing forum.
2. It has been raised as an issue by the Politician Correspondent.
3. Read this (from Khristen, the Politician Correspondent):
Some good news about the character purge from Fan Fest Player City forum...the structure part of it is ready to go as far as the actual process goes. It's just waiting on a few technical issues with infrastructure to be fixed before it will work properly. So it's getting close.
They have the intention of sending out e-mails to everyone well in advance of this. They will also try to let mayor's know ahead of time what structures in their cities will be affected.
The way this is going to work is not a complete destruction of the stucture and items. What they are going to do is basically roll-up the house and items and place it in the player's bank. So they don't loose their items, only their land. Incidentally, they're working on making this kind of system available to players in order to make moving around easier.
I'll be posting more at the end of Fan Fest to sum up everything I've got notes on as it relates to Player Cities and Politician. So keep an eye out!
