Thread: Transfer of house and contents

Apologies if this is covered elsewhere.

I'm not too pleased with the CU changes to my current character but would like to give the game another chance. Therefore I want to start a new character on the same server as my current toon, which obviously involves deleting him. However he has some nice items, loot, money, vet rewards etc. Is there an easy way to transfer these items to another player as a holding area?

I was thinking of filling my houses with all the items I want to keep and then doing a /transferstructure to my friend. If I do this will he become the "owner" of these items, so that when I delete my character these items remain? Or do I have to trade him all the items and get him to store them?

Any comments appreciated.

If I transfer a structure with a vendor in will he gain ownership of the vendor as well?

So I could put all my items on a vendor at 99999999 and then transfer rather than filling house?

There is some issues here, how will you get them off the vendor?

There is no garuntee that your new character can retrieve the items, I would think not, but you never know.

Also at one time, you COULD NOT transfer a structure with a Vendor, this may have changed.

If you are deleteing the toon that placed the vendor, you will not be able to retreive the items.

the safest way is to indeed fill up the houses you can transfer them double check everything then make a new toon and transfer back

yes that should work, any item in the house will now belong to him, so when you delete nothing should disapear. don;t forget the stuff in your bank.

question unless your restarting due to race or are a crafter/entjust use the combat respec to adjust skills.

Normally I won't post outside the CS forum (and yes, I haven't been in therein a while, lots of things on the plate.) But, this is important enough that I wanted to drop a word in before anything goes awry.

Because of the way the game handles saves, the action of you transfering the house over to the friend or assistant is not the end of the transaction. Until the house has had a chance to save with the new owner, it's still tied to you: if you delete your avatar before the house is untied from you, the script that is run to delete all structures associated with you will catch the house, and take it along with you. It may last in the game until the next restart, but if that happens, the house will be deleted.

If you are going to use this method to take care of business, please give it several hours before you go ahead and delete the original character. Both parties involved should be using /logout, and not shortcutting the system: this is a healthy way to ensure a save, the other instant disconnect is not as clean. And, if you know that a server restart is scheduled for the next day, consider doing the transfer the night before, and waiting until the next day to delete your original character, giving the structure ample time to transfer over safely.

WIth regards to vendors: please have the vendor emptied and picked up before you embark on this: we can't restore vendors, so if something goes awry, it's one less headache you have to worry about.

Hope that helps.
