Why is it that I cannot seem to use my generic home anywhere on Tattooine?

I get the "Building not permitted here" message. Do I have to join a city or something like that?

I just want my own little house, not a guild of people I don't know and a city that is a ghost town.

You have to be a certain distance away from an NPC city. Not sure if that's the problem, but it might help.

You should be able to place a generic house somewhere on Tattooine. There are restrictions on where you can build. When you try to place your house you cannot build in areas highlighted in yellow either because the terrain is not suitable, it is too close to water, a lair has spawned there,or it is a no build zone. If you get the "Building not permitted here" message and the place you tried showed green then you are likely in a no build zone, within 1000 meters of a non-player city or within the city limits of a player city. To build in a player city you first have to obtain zoning rghts.
