So you have finally stepped up to the plate and decided to hire a home designer to make that bare walled shell of a building a home ?

How do you find help ? how much does it cost ? HELP IS ON THE WAY !

First off let me add that designers work in many ways <Not just in design> but rather in how they do bussiness.

This is also a good guideline for new designers to browse upon mabey to help them out as well in dealing with new customers.

First <YOU> the homeowner must deside a few things before you venture into this escapade i will begin.

1.How much work do you want to have done ? <one room ? the whole house ? how much detail ?>

2.also note the item limit in your home. You may want something real extravagent and run out of room for storage ...so set up a item limit....<this also may limit you on just how detailed things can be> So instead of that bar stacked with bottles perhaps just a few properly placed. <i personally like to leave at least 25% > for functional storage.

3. You will need to provide you'r designer with some ideas of what kind of look your after....A comtemporary look ? A hunting lodge ? A pilots lounge ? A tactical canter ? specfics are not nessary but you may want to provide them with some type of theme.

4.Some items that really make a home unique are only obtainible through quest ,verteran gifts, factional etc etc....You the homeowner may <and probably will> need to provide these items. However designers can normally work with many items you already have in addtion to new furniture and art.

5. It's always a good idea to ask a designer if you can see some of their work..weather it be a webpage or in game .Please take note that the look they provided may be what THAT CUSTOMER WANTED. It may not be you'r taste so ask for more than just 1 example. You'r really just out to see what they are capible of,and to assure that in you'r mind they can do the job.

6.Price.... Some Designers may differ here but this is how i do it and how i came up with it.

a standard player can make about 100k per hour doing just about anything ...selling space parts...hunting etc etc.

so i charge by the hour ...you guessed it ! 100k per hour + cost of materials. Some designers may just quote the job as a whole.

7.TIP ...what i do to start when i begin on a home to ensure that the customer is happy and that im not designing a home that they may not like ,wasting time, and money. Is to DO ONE ROOM ! completly and then have the home owner check it out....and see ifthey are pleased with the work .This allows the customer to review the work so far and decide if he wishes to continue with the rest of the home .If he does not like the work <hasen't happen to me yet> then you haven't wasted to much time...and he hasen't wasted to much money....Simply pay the designer for his time and materials and part ways.

8.Try to be accomidating to you'r designer....he may have everything in a room done and just needs one more imperial chair to finish it off. They also may send you out with a list of items you may need to obtain.

9. Most designers can c

sorry got cut off...

9. most designers can craft furniture and some art on the spotand concidering that they are making 100k per hour already on this project the furniture cost should be fairly minimal.

few notes of caution....

1. some <not all> designers find it rude if you'r standing over their sholders the whole time.

2. some designers also concider their work to be somewhat artistic ...and just like art it is concidered rude to have them heavily change their design <a piece of art a chair spot no biggie> but don't over do it in front of them...simply change whatever you want later.

3.pay your designer for their time ! even if it was just for a few hours and you were not 100% pleased ! <this is why i recommend viewing some of their work first !>

4. Most designers can't just whip up you'r entire home in just one day ....so if you see an unfinished project wait untill they have completed the room.....an average large home and doing every room with some modorate detail and creativity can take 8 to 24 hours of GAME TIME depending on the project or more !

I could go on but hopefully this covers a fair amount of basics.

Hope this helps.

It's out-dated, and by the time I partially retired from doing design work for others, I ended up having to more than quadruple my prices... and people still paid.

Please answer the questions, and return with waypoint attached. As soon as I am set admin and get the questionaire back, I can start planning.

Mistress Kyphi

1- If given a choice of colors for a color scheme, what are your preferences?
2- What loot/rare/etc items do you have already that you will want displayed?
3- What items can I acquire for you if necessary, that you would like to see?
4- Do you have a theme in mind for what you would like (Middle Eastern, modern, artistic, etc)?
5- Will this be a personal home, business, combination, or something else?
6- Will you need storage space? If so, how much?
7- Will there be vendors placed in the building?
8- What planet, style and size of house will you be using?
9- Do you have any special requests?
10- What is your minimum and maximum budget you are willing to spend on this?
11- Do you want to be present each time I work? How much involvement do you want to have in the decoration of your home?
12- What planet will this be on?

Things to expect:

1- Expect at least 10 rl hours for a medium, and up to 24 hours on a large house. I devote Thursdays to interior design, so that can mean it may take up to three weeks from start to finish. My price is 50k per real life hour I spend (minus rl interuptions since I do have kids), plus 3cpu of any items I make. Rare items that I aqcuire for you are charged seperately. I charge a minimum of 300k starting for a 150 lot building, 500k for a 250 lot building. These are the bare minimums, and you'll get the bare minimum job.
2- If you keep me on admin rights, I have been known to stop off and update rooms with new ideas, or drop off new items (like new paintings when they come available).
3- Real life does come first, since I'm a mom with two very active young children (5 and 6). I do my best to do things when I say I will, but you never know when one of them will bring home a new virus for the family to share, or just need a little bit more love and attention. I also try to take these things into consideration when I give time estiments for project completion.
4- I have access to my husband's two accounts, and my neighbor's two accounts, as well as my own second account. There may be times when I need to add one of them to the admin rights so they can drop off items for me that they have made (either with me running the characters, or them running the characters). I know where they sleep in case they mess with one of my interior designing jobs. They are removed immediately after they have come and done what I needed them to. (Like drop off the run of drapes, or that one resource I forgot to bring with me, or the fish they just caught for a fishtank...)
5- I own an Estate, so there are times when I will need to break to manage the Estate (which is a guild and city), or just to manage buildings/structures/harvesters.

PS: Please feel free to use any part of this.

well of course ! just as in real life. designers are hired for all sorts of reasons....

some customers want the look in their home but may not have the creativity skills, time or desire to do it themselves.

with that being said ...sometimes its just easier to hire a professional.
