Does the various city specializations do anything really or are they just a maintenance drain on the city treasury? If they actually do anything then were can I as a new Mayor find out what the various specializations do ?

Thanks in advance for any help.

Well I found the information finally so if want then can delete this thread. I am still curious if this actually works in the game for the cities that get the specializations.

They do work yes.

I can't remember the specialisations off the top of my head, but if you invoke the medical specialisation, then wound healing and buffs get bonuses.. research centre = crafters do get a bonus to experimentation etc.

They all work, however some are rather useless. i would say the most popular 2 are med and resource

Medical specization:adds 10% to allmedical healing done within city limits (dont need to be resident) for instance if someone buffed for 2600 normally 10% of that is around 260 so the buff should be 2860.

Entertainment specialization:adds 10% to all entertainment healing done within city limits (dont need to be resident) same rule as medical so a normal dancebuff 1000 would add 10% of that so you would receive 1100.

for these two it adds the 10% on after all the mods they have (clothes, bivoli ect).

Research specialization:adds 10%(could be 15%) to all experimenting done within the city (note:does not add 10experiment points - 1pt) it works the same as bespin port and FS experienting, in that it helps in the experimenting stages in gaining more sucess'.

Assembly specialization:adds 10% (again could be 15%) to all assembly done within the city (note:does not add onto the actual assembly mod) it works the same as pyollian cake and FS assembly, in that it helps get a better sucess when assembling.

these two work in the actuall phase of the said part, they dont add mods.

Stronghold specialization:adds +50 to all defence roles (melee, range, def vs states) does not add onto things such as toughness/center of being it is simply the actuall defensive mods not skills. Must be a militia member of the city to receive this and also you dont actually see it add in your skill window, but its there.

those are the most useful ones, the others dont really get used. hope this helps.

There's also "Improved Job Market", which boosts the payout (and maybe the level?) of missions taken from terminals in that city. That seems to be a popular one for player cities on Dantooine that I've passed through.

Research is 10%

Assembly is 15%

Past that, there is Sample Rich which is useless you have a mass of AFK Artisans who survey all day within the city limits.

There is also Clone Center which reduces the cost of cloning by 10%. I personally think this is also useless unless your city is PvP heavy, and then I would reccomend Strong hold.

The guide (check in "the" sticky) to Player Cities has a list of all the specializations as well as notations on what doesn't work.
