Thread: Thank You SOE for Ruining MEK's City Layouts

Sometimes I wonder to my self why SOE does some of the things they do. If after emplementing the non-collidable pass through feature for medium houses lined up as wall, why would you on Earth decide to inlarge the footprint?!? Two fixes for one problem? MEK's cities are some of the best layed out cities on the server. But now thoose plans are ruined because of the new footprint. Seriously, now available lots fall inside the footprint of pre-existing structures, but thanx to the wonderful maintenance systemSOE has implemented, structures never go anywere unless the owner takes it down. So we can not redesign the city, not that we should have to. What was wrong with the current fix? Why did you find it necessary to ruin city designes that took weeks to create, and a year to perfect? We have never built med house walls, yet you decided it best to punish everyone for the actions of a few?

MEK is a huge guild, we have over 300 members in SWG, and our EQ2 guild is the fourth largest in the world, and largest on the Mistmoore server. We contribute ungodly amounts of money to your over inflated monthly subscription costs, and what do we get from it? Illogical, nurfs and game changes that make sence only o the DEVs who seem to never listen or acomodate the people that pay their salleries. Where is the common sence? Changes like this should never be emplemented after a game has been out so long. Lets see, 700* 15 bucks a month = 10.5K dollars. Wow, MEK accounts for quite a bit of SOE pocket change. A drop in the bucket I am sure, but don't people who pay the highest rates in the market deserve more? Not to mention all the extra fees you charge our EQ2ers just to use extra web site features!

I and the other MEK branch leaders decide what games our Guild moves too, and guess what, I am seriously close to not throwing my weight behind any future MEK SOE guilds. And as Network leader, I gauruntee you that weight is plenty! Just when I thought you were waking up to the wishes and desires of your customers, you go and do this! Our main capital square, which consisted of 3 large structures, our main guild hall three parks, fountains, lights, ect, all laid out perfectly, is ruined because I had to take up the large I hosted temp to transfer another structure, and now it can't be placed back because a officers med house office blocks the footprint, and the owner is inactive! This is only one of many problems. We only use Nabo archetecture in our two largest cities, and guess what, MOST PEOPLE LIKE MEDIUMS!!!!! No one can build anywhere but extremely open areas, or outside the city which defeats the whole purpose of cities! No wonder it is so0 hard to keep people in the game, the only thing keeping me in it is our cities, our guild, our community, it sure as heck isn't the new and improved crafting or combat!

Please, enlighten me as to how this emproves game play, will make more people come back to the game, or in any way shape or form make those of us who pay the highest subscription fees in the market happier customers!

Trust me, you're not the only one who's city has been hurt by this change. Look back through various other posts here and on the Politician Forum and you'll see just how many cities were negatively impacted by this ridiculous change. But yet again SOE will fail answer the cries of such a minority profession/class in this game.

The fact is, NO paying customer deserves these "fixes". It's effected everyone, not just the big PAs.

Over-inflated prices? Just like SWG and EQ2, WoW costs $14.99 US a month. I'm sure SOE is paying a hefty royalty fee to Lucasfilm, so consider $14.99 a bargain for a well-established licensed universe.

If you're trying to throw your weight around with SOE in "numerical values", it's probably a lost cause.

It's hardly well established. It's only about half the content that was promised. And of the half we got, half of that is broken or has been changed to something that is not only not fun, but more a pain to even try and make work. The footprint change for houses is completely rediculous and without cause or justification. But I'm assuming nothing will be done since we're all mindless clones begging them for their game. This has completely ruined 2 years of city building. It is becoming increasingly difficult to commit to anything long term in SWG, because you never know when the code will be changed on a whim. Sure, we can still quest, the mission terminals work, but anything player built or drivenis becoming more a waste of time with each publish.

On a side note, thx for fixing the armor crate color bug. I still hate what the Combat "Upgrade" did to the non combat part of the game, but at least I can make factory runs again.

Crafting since Publish 5. I'm holding on in hopes the Armorsmith profession gets the love it deserves. I prefer the pre-CU system, crafting and combat. I would also like to see decay and hide gathering reinstalled into the game, as well as some epic Recon, craftable of course. And make being 12 point important again.

I pay my $15 bucks a month too (or $30 if both my characters are active)

And I'm glad they changed it so that you coulnd't essentially build a 'wall' you may not have, but many did.

AND since many did, THEY are the majority.

Now the other consequences that follow, I'm sure they did not foresee....but don't they ALWAYS do that?

that does not in anyway shape or form justify it, they had already made medium house walls useless by making it possible to pass throught them.

Well, just a huge FYI for the above poster saying they were glad they did it....

Those same exact walled in cities are still there. All they did with this change was screw those of us that are making city layouts that do not prevent anyone from accessing the land in any way. Thought i'd just share that little tid bit with ya

Okitaa,

I do not want this to come across as a flame, so please do not take it that way. I see that you are an Architect, but appearently NOT living on Naboo. This change has not only made a mess out of well planned city designs it has also killed my largest market of home sales. Naboo mediums WERE my best seller for houses, even thoughthat market was a little dry. Mayors no longer are allowing the placements due to this footprint problem.

I have 4 accounts that I have been paying on since Beta and this change has forced me for the first time since I started to consider living ANYWHERE BUT Naboo.

SOE needs to realize that since the CU we crafters are leaving in DROVES and unless some attention is payed to us, this game will become nothing more than a Jedi vs. BH PvP fest. Might as well play somwthing like Jedi Acadamy on the XBox

Well the bad thing about this change all around is that it didn't only effect the planet of Naboo. It effected Dantooine and Rori as well. Not like many people can actually find where Rori is anyway though Architect sales have dropped horribly on my server since this change.. and if i do sell houses they are now typically smalls since this is all many can fit in the "Naboo Style" Cities with this change. So not only did this change hurt many player cities but it also hurt yet ANOTHER crafting profession

Well like said above, MEK is not the only one with problems.

I am working on the city revamp of Lianorm on Naboo (Eclipse) for more then a year now, and this were going quite good, until SOE introduced that houses couldn't be destroyed because of empty maintenance anymore...

Ok good.. We overcame that obstacle with our minds set on the "fabled" character purge, which will probably never come (it was due october 2004).

But now this again!!! I can just stop placing new people (yes there are people who still start SWG, or others that return to this game) now, because the room in the city is just not enough now. We were working on a really beautifull city ingame, but this just ruins our work.

And SOE can tell us that it is because of the "walls" that were created around NPC cities, but that is just their own fault. Just give us the character purge!! Wipe out all the buildings of those annoying inactive players and there is PLENTY of room again on a planet.

About 5 months ago, I was able to drive across Naboo for at least 3 mins without seeing a house.. Now I see one every 500 meters.

SOE: Please undo this terrible change and give us a character purge for this wonderful game!
