when is this purge gonna happen?? besides if it does.
October 2004 is the scheduled date for the Player Purge.
No I am not kidding. That is the actual date that was given last year. Here we are almost a full year later and nothing has been done to purge the game of all the junk harvs, factories, houses etc. from players that have left and cancelled their accounts. Heck I know a house from a friend of mine is still around in a player city and he quit game nearly 2 years ago now and cancelled his account. his junk all still there and counting as a citizen of that city. It's rediculous!
I doubt that we'll ever see a player purge. the house pack-up is only going to be "for player houses". that tells me anyone that is using a cantina, guildhall, med center as their house is outta luck. That also means the Dev's will never player purge because if they do some of those Med centers, Cantinas, and Guild halls in player cities will then go bye bye instead of being packed up. I simply cannot see the dev's doing that because it is what they are trying to avoid with the house packup in the first place.
So the so-called player purge is nearlyy a year overdue and the nechanics to make it happen are still incomplete. It ain't gonna happen people. May a well faxce it. Increasing planet caps is the way to go!!!!!
I sympathise with you thedeese -Yesterday we had our update and got the message that we "have qualified for rank 4, but it's been denied by the 'planet authority' because there are too many on the planet".
I was more than aware that we wouldn't qualify for a shuttleport, but what angered me is the fact that we're also denied the ability to place a theatre and more importantly the extra land that a rank 4 aquires. At rank 3 we simply don't have the room for many more houses. Sure we can place houses outside of city, but what about the issue of taxation and city specialisation for these '2nd class citizens'?
"Hey - You're just the sort of person we're looking to join our growing community of like minded players. You wanna become a 'sort-of-citizen' NEARour player city"?
I believe an element of theproblem is that devs receive fragmented complaints from those running player citiesacross every server. So while they may receive 60/70 each month, they're split across all servers. 5 from bria,8 from xyz, 7 from abcetc. It's easy to ignore a small minority.
The only way to deal with the issue in this thread is to raise the cap. While the mythical player purge may have benefits, it doesn't address primary issue started in this thread.
On a related note - there is a player city on Corellia that appears as a shuttleport destination on the planet map and when purchasing tickets, but when u get there no shuttleport exists. So we have a city that has dropped in rank, had it's shuttleport removed, but still allows players to purchase a ticket/and travel to it. Go figure.

And that is why they rarely give us dates for things. /sigh
The best made intentions can run into problems and bugs that make it impossible. New systems had to be developed because what was planned didn't work right. So it was shelved until it could be made ready. At Fan Fest, it was said that the system for doing the purge was ready but was waiting on a few other things to be done that it relied on. My guess is the house pack-up is one of those things.
