Thread: Ideas for citys

Really, don't people even read before they post anymore? These ideas aren't new (in fact, there is a post right below yours containing a few such ideas), and these will never happen.

Hi ya, I would like to see a few things added to citys and city buildings
1. City walls. I would like to add the ability to place walls around the city. Eather in the form of shield walls or actual brick walls like in kadaraa and some spots of naboo. Make the walls require atleast 1 gate you cannot close in order to keep people from trapping enemys inside of a city and banning them from using the shuttleport.
2. City fortifications- such as turrets you can place along the outside of city walls. making the city one big factional base that doesnt count against the GCW but the bases inside could. the turrets would do near the damage of a regular turret and would be slightly easyer to kill with a lower range. So that they wouldnt be to horribily unbalancing. perhaps even acting as little mini-bases that spawn mid level factional npcs to help boost the feel of a control city.

Edit: "These" being the two I quoted.

No, I dont. And I would like to know exactly when you got on the sony payroll as lead developer and decided they wouldnt? I remember them saying multi-passenger vehicles would "never happen" also. Guess never is a short period of time.

Just last week.
Still kinda new to the job, but it's been fun so far. I'm sorry if I offended you, it's just that things like this are posted constantly, each time with the person thinking that their ideas are brand-new. A simple search of the forums will tell you if these ideas have been brought up before. They have been brought up in the Politician forum many times, and submitted to the devs. They have been shot down each and every time.
On a different note, your number 4 has been reported as the devs liking the idea, however skyscrapers would be for decoration only, not as useful buildings.

.....or they'll just delete the thread, like so many other good discussions in the GCW forum....take the "100 Ideas to Improve the GCW" post a while back....

Well... I have to agree with both sides, here. Yes, those things might be neat, but they aren't new. And Sony has clearly stated that they don't want PCs to be part of the conflict and, as such, will not be creating/enabling any city structures that will contribute to the GCW or combat in general. For that matter, the footprints of several structures (Medium Naboo House specifically) will be changed soon so that even those cannot be used to make "walls." (It's kind of funny... WHen I think of Outposts or Strongholds, I think military functionality, but apparently SOE doesn't think that way.)
I am not trying to slam Palad here, but people should try looking through the forums before posting; at least a little bit. Most of the things mentioned in the original post are very frequent forum topics. Everyone should remember that SOE DOES read these things and they are much more likely to pay attention if a thread gets really long (petition like, if not in true function) rather than there being several small threads about the same thing. Not to mention, when we all talk on the same thread ideas get kicked around and adapted more and we truly do come up with some good, well thought out plans.

Nothing is really going to get added until after the next two publishes....or if SOE was smart they'd do it. Fix most of the bugs first then worry about content.
I think, technicly SOE has a team working on BUGs, One working on New Content, and one working on Expansion.
One Doesn't often Lend to another, and thus the BUG team has no effect on the Content team, although the content team does only add to the list when they push through a publish filled with teh bugs.
