PLAYER CITIES

Player cities are a very fun part of Galaxies, but are in a desperate need for revamping. The major problem with player cities, in my opinion, is that there is not much to distinguish them from random clusters of houses.

A way to help avoid this would be to create the ability to shape and change the appearance of the city through the addition of roads, town squares, and other ‘city-like’ structures. As with other structures that require a city level (shuttleports for example), as a city grows the type of structures would change. So one city might get the ability to have pathways, and as it develops they will turn into paved roads like Theed ect. Other structures like town squares, junctions, just about anything, could be placed to help differentiate one town from the other. Depending on the design of the mayor, each city should have the ability to have a distinct layout that is different from the rest.

One major issue that plagues cities now is inactive player houses. I understand the need to keep houses up, and the ability for people to be inactive for a time, but right now player houses will remain almost indefinitely. Many player cities are cluttered with houses from months ago that cannot be moved. If possible, mayors should be able to petition CSR’s to help move some of the inactive houses to distant locations so that mayors can not only free up more room for active players, but help to shape and design a city to the planned specs. A certain criteria would probably need to be met, which CSR’s should be able to access, to determine when a player last logged in to determine if they are active. Not only would this help to alleviate the cluttering of unused houses, but it would prevent ‘ghost cities’, with over half a population inactive from retaining a stronghold on the city caps for shuttleports.

If they are still active, mayors should have some right in order to demand that a player move. Right now, once a player is in a city, the mayor has no ability to ask them to leave.. forcing many of us to live with not-so-desirable neighbors. Granted this should not be on the whim of the mayor, and it should not be ‘easy’ to relocate many players at once. But if a certain criteria are met, such as a majority of the citizens agree on a vote, a mayor should have the ability to remove someone. Unfortunately, the aforementioned proposition of removing inactive players would have to be in place, as many cities are populated by tens of ‘ghost’ players, thus making a majority vote nearly impossible.

PLAYER HOUSING

Simply put, it would be nice to have different houses. After playing the game for a few years, housing is becoming very dated. It would be nice to have a new kind of housing, especially on Corellia, since generic player houses live up to their name, generic.

Another suggestion would be to allow Master Rangers to build a new type of small house that can be placed on Endor and Dathomir. Only Master Rangers should be able to drop and use them, but I think it would be a nice perk for that profession. They need love.

NPC CITIES

It would be nice to see the development team focus a publish on upgrading the existing NPC cities, mainly the cantinas, to help create a more enjoyable gaming experience for everyone.

We are all used to the colorful and exciting cantina scenes from the Star Wars movies, yet most of the cantinas in the game are almost identical to each other. On almost all servers, out of the many many many cantinas scattered all over the galaxy, most players converge on one or two locations.. usually Theed or Coronet. My suggestion would be to upgrade one or both of these facilities, and create a large entertainer complex.

The possibilities for this type of complex are limitless… but I would suggest that it be an area that focuses on the entertainer professions to help give them more depth and value. A suggestion would be to have a network of ‘behind-the-stage’ rooms and zones that are accessibly by only those who are entertainers. In these backstage areas would be the only means of accessing stages. Another proposal would be to have multi-leveled stages that reflect certain entertainer requirements. So master entertainers may have an exclusive stage they can access, whereas others may have a different stage. This would help to create a more enjoyable experience for everyone, as having such a complex would help to create a more enjoyable and unique cantina experience, while at the same time improving the depth and value to the entertainer profession.

DUELING ARENA

I think it would be really cool to have a dueling arena, as well as a player vs. creature arena similar to the movies. Players could meet here to challenge each other to settle disputes, or just a fight for money… as other players can sit in the audience and watch, and even bet for certain players. This would inevitably create a ‘gladiator’ role that players can choose to play… as some players may become much better in the arena than others, and even have ‘Arena Stats’ that can set them apart from other players. This would be an addition to the game that would boost the enjoyment for all players.

Just some suggestions that I feel would help boost the SWG enjoyment for all players.

Overall, quite good. But most of it has been said before.


As for new houses, you mentioned you have played for a while. So have I.I think that one solution may to make three new houses... small, meduim, and large, and make them veteran rewards at 1 Year, 1 1/2 Year, and 2 Years. Those would be very, very memorable and useful rewards.

Would be nice to have a new layout.. would also help to boost some demand for architects as well.


As for things being said before, I know.. but I figure the more times it can be said maybe a dev will read it
