Say you want to build a thriving markey city, which will include a shuttleport, and all the ammenities that such a market town would need to attract prospective merchants.
Now, say that you've created this city, picked a prime location, and have your 55 citizens. Only then are you informed that there is a cap on that planet, and your city will not be allowed the next rank.
This is horribly unfair to the mayor, the 55 citizens, and anyone else associated with the city.
Though I know this will never be high on any priority list, it would be wonderful if there was some way for the player base to access the information on which servers/planets have filled their quota of large, medium, and small player cities, so that you don't have to waste the effort of getting 55 citizens only to find out that you will not be allowed to thrive as a city.
The developers already have a system which can track the number of structures per server per planet, and I would assume when they created player cities they also have a system which can track these. Some access to this information by server and by planet would be easy enough to implement.
It could be done through the website, as all that is needed is the raw information in a format such as:
Server: xxxx
Planet: xxxxx
Number of:
Outposts: xx out of a possible xx
Vilages: xx out of a possible xx
Townships: xx out of a possible xx
Cities: xx out of a possible xx
Metropoli (sis? I dunno the plural form, sorry): xx out of a possible xx
It would need updating only once a month, and would allow people interested in building a certain kind of city the latitude of choice to know if it would be possible or not.
