Thread: A Suggestion to the Devs

While I am unsure if this has been mentioned before, I will go ahead and make the suggestion.

I recently returned from an extended vacation away from SWG, and found various "lots" I had used were condemned. Now, I was quite glad that I did not have to pay the 2+ Million credits again for the buildings, because in the end it only cost me around 150k to get them all back. I say this so that I can show that I am one of the people who would be affected by my recommendation.

Why not allow other players to buy the condemned structures after a certain period of time? I understand this might cause some grief with "ghost" players, ones that SOE hopes will come back, but who does is better serve, those that ARE here, or those that MAY be here? The economics of SWG are loosely based upon real-world status (although I would certaintly love to find a bank on SWG that would give me 5% interest on my money in it ), and in the real-world, banks sell of foreclosures to the highest bidder. So why not implement such a routine in SWG? I see two possibilities for how it would be done.

1) The quickest would just to setup condemned buildings to be on a timer, say 2 months, that when expired, the first person to come across it and click it, receives notice that it is foreclosed, and would they like to buy it for Credits Due + X amount, making this option the "Early bird gets the worm" option.

2) When a player comes upon a condemned structure, they are given a choice to participate in an auction that will end at X time, and the current bidis X credits, would they like to bid?

Either one of those would seem to me to be greatly in favor of not only balancing the economics of the game, by throwing more credits back INTO the system instead of people only pulling out, as well as the cities, by allowing people to buy those buildings that are mearly taking up cap limits, etc, on the planet in question.

i think with the new ability to "pack" a house, this will clear things up in a short time. old inactive accounts can be "packed" by a csr or some one with the ability to check history of account and pack it to the persons inventory so when (if) they log back in, at least the items and house are stored safely in their inventory.

Have they said that harvesters/factories will play into the "packup" scenario? Or did I just miss it?
