ok, this morning i decided it was time to get a new shop. instead of the tat small i had for my old shop, i opted for the tat large to give me more freedom with decorating.

look at the screenies and tell me what you think.

what looks good?
what should i get rid of?
what should i have more of?

etc....

Looks like you've got the general layout of the house sectioned off where you want different functional areas.

Looks good so far.

And I think you've got one of the basic interior design concepts down, even though you're just starting - don't over do it!

I see so many interiors that have SO much stuff crammed everywhere with no reason other that to show off all the junk they have.

With real interior design, form follows function. Yeah, it's OK to have some various items and trophies tastefully placed around for display purposes, but...so you have 20 holograms, so pick one and place it in an office (or wherever it looks nice) and then switch it every now and then. But having all 20 holograms crammed in the office just looks like crap. No one lives in a museum. Not that that's what you've done. Just a tip.

The other basic concept for making a space look believable, believe it or not, is a little clutter.

People always have work in progress, and when was the last time you really cleaned every single thing up after you finished doing something?

Leave a few things like disks and decoders lying on a desk in an office or a few glasses on a dinner table so it looks like someone lives or works there. Again, don't over do it unless it's an area, like a workshop, where tools and components would naturally be laying around while working.

And unless you've got a maid or man servant that comes in every day and cleans up after you, things will not be nice and straight and centered unless it's part of the design - like a lamp on a table.

For what you've already got set up:

Bookcases make very nice back drops in many areas. I just wish we had a few more items to fill them naturally. Some nick-nacks can look nice to fillspaces, as long as it isn't overdone again.

I wish we had more than rusty chests for kitchen cabinets. You can alternate the chests facing front and facing back for some variety on counters. Look at the top of resource containers like radioactive and petro if you want a few stove burners. And we have some nice plattered food and utensiles now. That kitchen could double as kitchen and dining room with all that space.

I like the billiards light hanging over the table even though candles are a funny source for indoor lightingof that type

(didn't comment on that in the pool table thread). With some of the new entertainer and Wookie world items you can find other light sources like glow sticks and tube lighting. Although I haven't had a chance to get my hands on some of those items to play with yet.

I love the theatre, even though vid screens have been done before, simply for the lighting in that room!

I like the curved bar and the counter in the main room which I assume will be used for vendors. Nice built in look for the trees!

Keep the pics coming! I like to see what other people do with their spaces! I can always get a few good ideas when somone puts some thought and work into what they're doing!

"When Sony and Lucas set out, we said, How can we do this and not make another EQ? We didn't want it to be all about Luke, or combat, or lock our players into a class. So we created a system that would allow players to switch professions during the game, and there would be a lot of gameplay around making that change. If you want to go from architect to scout we've created a system to make that happen."

the reasoning behind the office placement is this:

an efficent businessman doesnt need to physically see his business at all time. my office is set up as a distraction free place, a place where my toon can focus on his business without distractions, and i believe that the minimalist theme of the room really adds to that.

and btw, the armor behind my desk is all i could find of the first suit of armor i ever crafted as a master armorsmith, my first mastered crafting profession......its not just some random suit of armor.

also, the room below the room with the window is getting an aquarium installed by me.

its gonna be my first stab at an aquarium.....and i really shot high on this one.....i hope it lives up to my expectations

the room with the theater and the kitchen are under review. ive taken down the kitchen because it seems redundant to have a kitchen without a dining room, and so i scrapped that thought.

so the theater room and the kitchen currently have nothing in them......anyone have a cool zany idea.....something new and challenging......or just a weird idea that i can use to springboard to a more doable option.

i honestly have no clue what to do with those 2 rooms
