Why do people insist on perpetuating the rumor that there will be a server merge? They've said many times that there isn't going to be one.
I browse a lot of different forums and I see stuff like that quite frequently. There are some people out there who would believe that and spread it around like it was gospel truth.
I think the easiest way to do a "purge" would be to use the pack up when it goes live to pack up every structure into the owners data pad as a one time thing. So the first person to log in would see NO structures anywhere on any planet. From there, cities can start from scratch starting with mayors from previous cities with first priority. Rebuild the galaxy and from there on out an inactive account for more than 6 months would result in the same situation. That inactive character would have all structures placed in their data pad upon reaching 6 months of account inactivity.
Player cities would be given a second chance to organize their cities without the worry or hassle of those abbandoned structures. And as I said before that the existing player cities would have top priority on starting player cities. Guilds would not be disbanned, just the city itself. Main reason being there are cities out there that are ghost towns with city halls and PA halls that are inactive or condemed.
Another long drawn out option would be to activate the 6 month account inactivity when this pack up option goes live. 6 months down the road from the publish date the structures would be placed in the owners datapad as said before. Like I said this would be a long process for existing ghost towns and condemed structures. One problem I see with this is what happens to the structures that belong to deleted characters. Obviously they cannot go in thier datapad. Structures being left behind from a deleted character suggests an exploit where one can create a character, drop their 10 lots worth of harvesters putting their alt on admin then rinse and repeat. Do people actually do this?

Couldn't be any closer to the truth Khristen! I think the minute the House Packup was announced many started assuming that there was going to be a server merge. In some ways it wouldn't be an absolute horrible thing, but i'm completely happy with how Gorath currently is.
