i think it would give cities a better feel if we could have streets or atleast just a flat non grass or dirt ground.

If I remember right, this was brought up in the Dev chat. If I remember correctly, the Devs replied that it really wasn't possible at the moment because it would mean editing the surfaces of the planet (if there's a large hill, to put a road it would have to be flattend out); on all servers the surfaces are the same, so in Gorath, you'll find the exact same hill on Rori in the same place on the Rori have Bloodfin. So it would be hard to edit the terrain because all terrain on each server is the same on a given planet.

But maybe that was why we can't edit terrain and level it... I don't remember now...

If we can't change the shape of terrain, how about a texture on top of it then? The hill would still be there, but you'd see the road going over the top of it... kinda like if you head west out of Keren, that's a neat, already ingame texture...

Make it like the parks and monuments, if necessary, to add to city maintence costs.

This would be a good idea, but the terrain edit does cause a problem. Maybe if they gave cities a grid planner, you could leave adequate empty spaces for roads. This could also have the possibility of making residential zones, commercial zones w/ vendors and merchant tents and so on.

If your running the game on a low graphics setting you might not know this.

Places that actually look empty arent. They are filled with rocks leaves grass plants. That are just not rendered on the lower setting. That means that they would have to go in that code too.

I think the best answer would be to modify the house designs with a small raised walkway in front and around the outside of the structure. Then allow houses to be built closer they should be anyway. The way you can do with medium generics now. The net result this lower patio can look like a sidewalk, but its not its part of your house. Then If you able to but structures pavements againsts eachother you got yourself a sidewalk. If the houses are across from one another you harve yourselves a street.

Hmm... that's an awsome idea...

This was the first item brought up in this new forum.

Devs say no.

Not going to happen.
