ok i know why /citywarn was taken away ... but what about having an option where the mayor could elect (with a weekly fee of course) a NPC city militia that would have that city as their faction ... (ie. assist anyone that is a declared resident of the city, attack on site any PC's that are citybanned and help the crafters with patrolling the areas there factories are at for random wandering mobs that can wreak havoc on a crafters afternoon plans) have it where the militia size is determined by the number of citizens ... like 1 npc militia for every 10 in the city .. and they can roam anywhere within the city limits ...
just an idea ... heh but after getting incapped by a dunelizard today on my crafter alt it came to me that this would be something kinda useful ... what do you think?

faction bases are not tied to the city tho ... this would be something for the city that the mayor controls that would add a little more support to cityban but not be as overpowering as citywarn was ... tho it might not be something worth thinking about it till /godmode is disabled with the CU

Good idea.
Makethe City Militia like theNarmle and Restuss militia NPCson Rori. Doesn't have a faction but is tied in name to the city. The NPC's could wander the city dealing with /citywarn and /cityban players and the odd Mob that chases players in to the city limits.
At high level Politician skill level perhaps even tie the City Militia directly in to the GCW like you can with factional mission terminals. Rebel or Imperial Garrison Troops for those that choose to take part in the GCW while Neutral cities would maintain their city militia troops. With the upcomming changes to the GCW this would fit right in.

i like this, but i think the dev's would object to tying it to /cityban /citywarn. this would bring back the same reason they removed it. alowing npc's to deny a player access to a poi is just as bad as doing it with players. while never allowing a city's to be within 1km of a poi would have eleminated this before it every occured, but i digress.....
anyway, i love the idea of the npc's helping the city residents. any player or npc that attacks a citizen of the city should cause the cops to come running. maybe city residents should get access to the /callacop function? milita could have the /beatdown command which calls in loads of them.

This would be great for artisan's - I hate it when a harvestor has several reds around it, and it would be nice to be able to call them (say up to 3k outside the city). I'd even pay for their services if I could.

Yeah, that would be a good idea except for the whole people who hate the town killing them all. They should be non-attackable NPCsthat only help citizens within agro range (64m) or who do a UI command to request them, to a certain distance from city hall. It should be one of those things that you would get more of as you went up in city rank. A cap of about 35 or so at metropolis. They should be stationed near common agro zones, places whereanimals spawn. They should have increased HAM and power as the city gets bigger. Mayors would also be able to set patrol zones for them and have them group and stay together. Different fire power for different planets, for example:
Rori: 150-300 dmg
Dantooine:300-450 dmg
Correlia 100-200 dmg
Lok: 150-250 dmg
Tatooine: 100-250 dmg
Naboo: 150-200 dmg
Talus: 100-200 dmg
They should all have an overage of 6000-8000 HAM.

having them unattackable would fall back to the griefing part on players since they couldn't defend themselves against it ... maybe give them ham and resists like a nova trooper or like the sith during phase three ifa militia member calls them ... but them be normal otherwise ...

no the npc's wouldn't keep someone from a poi because they are banned .. but it would make a bit more work for them .. and would not cause the griefing a player was able to with it ...
make the skill a master politician skill ... give that box a good reason to be obtained ...
as for citizens being able to call them ... have a /militia command that would have them come to that area (not spawn more of them tho) ...
if someone on the city militia did the /militia command it would increase the spawn of the npc militia for a bit ...
to keep it from being used and abused tho ... the npc's give 1 xp when killed and drop nothing ...

This is similar to my Guild NPCs idea in my Guild War proposal on the PA Forums. Where you can have them tagged (ie Nitaon Sunrof (an IDI Forces soldier)) as well as drop clothing items into the NPC Guild Officer to be their uniform that they'll wear when they're generated.
The link's here:
Involves a lot of ideas that also prolly could be applied to Towns too. Also, at each level a specific number of NPCs can be recruited....ie: At rank 1, only 5 NPCs can be recruited that will attack any Non-alliedNPCs or MOBs. If the town is Rebel, it won't attack Rebel NPCs, but will Stormtroopers. If Neutral...neither. 1 of These NPCs can be hired for free. At rank 5, there can be 25 NPCs, with only 5 that can be hired for free. Also these would be strong NPCs...

Whats sad is that this was actually a planned feature. We were told 6 months before the game even came out that there would be NPC police in player cities. (But we also expecting player cities to go live right when the game launched.....which didn't happen) I would love to see this brought into the game. Would also love to see some of the stuff they promised back before the game came out. ( Like a Criminal Faction )
