Hello, I did not know who to go with this, so I figured I would post it here, and maybe get an answer as to whereI should go to get attention. I believe there are three types of SWG players...
-- Crafters (Its obvious what they do)
-- Looters (Its obvious what they do)
-- Players (these are people who just like to play, or a mix of both)
I have come to the conclusion that housing has become a serious issue. I know many the Crafter who has 8 houses on three alts just to hold enough crafting stuff to be Armorsmith/weaponsmith and the myriad of other mixes of crafting proffessions you can be. I also know many looters who have 4-5 houses themselves. I on the other hand am a little of both, I'm a loot collector and a smuggler, soI have a house for each and another for me.
I believe houses should be used just for that reason...HOUSING. Now, you just cant go off and say, "you cant have 5 houses". But, I've thought up a way to solve this problem to get rid of the many headaches im sure you and the players have...
Storage sheds: Make a craftable building (one that looks like a structure fatctory or one of those little square buildings on a factional base) that CANNOT be entered and costs 2 lots. Instead you open it up much like a factory hopper, and have it (at first) hold 100 items. But say you need more space...well instead of dropping a new shed you just "Add on" to it, by way of a storage module you place inside of it...instantly you have enough room for 200 items. Now of course you should have some penalty on it. That way people can't take advantage of it (Blasted Exploiters!) and get 2000 items for 2 lots, this penalty will be monetary...
100 items-- 5 credits an hour
200 items-- 8 credits an hour
300 items-- 13 credits an hour
400 items-- 20 credits an hour
500 items-- 29 credits an hour
...and so on and so forth, of course maybe cap the building out at 1000 items. As you can see it gets exponentially more expensive (this is just a model). So the people who need it would buy it, and it would be flexible for each person...not everyone needs 1000 items of storage, some only need 300.
This is an outline for a normal person(One Alt, I'm tired of hearing that those who want to solve their storage problems should buy another alt...in my book thats a minor way of exploiting, but its NOT Illegal. Many of my friends have multiple alts and thats fine by me.)who both collects a few loots, wants a nice house and crafts...this is to prevent exploiting.
---Large House (5 lots) (Or equivalent in housing...such as two mediums)
---One storage shed (2 lots) (capped at 1 shed...no matter its Item #)
---Leftover lots used for harvies and factorys
---One storage shed (2 lots) (capped at 1 shed...no matter its Item #)
---Leftover lots used for harvies and factorys
**Keep in mind you dont NEED to use a large house, you could get a medium and drop 1-2 smalls as vendor areas.
This is just an idea from a lonely smuggler who thinks he can solve a problem or two that is getting everyone mad. I figured someone has to start an idea...and since I have a runaway imagination sometimes I should put it to good use.
**BTW: I'm also the Smuggler's Alliance Guy!

Good idea. Very constructive!
I've also heard of people who have suggested "warehouses" to solve the "house as a storage building" problem. Kinda the same concept, just a bigger building (and hence more lots/storage).

Good idea... plus it would make the worlds less cluttered with a myriad of storage homes all over the place.

yeah top idea, maybe even a generic storage depot that a city could place for multiple users, but the more they store the higher the rates, one building would be better than several
