Thread: Moving Objects around in SWG

Ok, yes, I am asking one of the dumbest questions around. AND yes, I am a veteran player since DAY ONE!!! And yet, for all my worth, I can never seem to move objects around my house or yacht with ease. Honestly, it's ticking me off immensely. Before you start being like, moron kid or something like that, I haven't tried as much as some have. I spent most of my time when I played exploring the many places of the game. I am one of the most intensive wanderers in the game and have a character that is entirely self-sufficient. Yes, I can hunt, fish, build a house, build my own weapons, and all that jazz, yet, I can't move objects around. I'm posting from an Army Duty Post right now, and haven't logged in to my character since the last time I was home. Yes, that has been a while to all you hardcore players, and yes, I'm Active Duty. So please, don't bash the guy that has been serving in an area that doesn't allow for SWG for the last nine months. I'll be going home this week and would love the help. Thanx for everything guys. HOOAH!!

/move back 1-500

/move up 1-500

/move down 1-500

/rotate left 45

/rotate right 45

1-500 depends on how far u want to move stuff hope this helps

Another tip: to move stuff in an given direction, drop a chair, rotate it to the angle you want, then sit in it and move your object. Easier than trying to turn your char to a precise angle.

If ya didn't know, there are a few commands which you can use to move objects around with more ease than with the "point-and-click" method. Hopefully these could be of some help...

/move up/down

/rotate right/left

move forward/back

Objects will always move parallel to the way your facing, also.

Hope that helps.

yes you can do

/move (forward or back) (and the number how far you want to move it)

ex. /move forward 45

/move (left or right) (and the number how far you want to move it)

ex. /move right 15

/rotate (left or right) (and the number of degrees you want to rotate it)

ex. /rotate left 45

Hope this helps you this is all i know

oh ya and you can do /pickup and pick up items but they have to be targeted before you type /pickup

and the most impoartant macro of them all

/pickup

and If you move an item into the wall and can remember it's name /target 'name' then /pickup

A few items have horrible centers (tat tapistry for 1) or low ones (structure modules)
so drop large or odd objects in center of room
and rotate/raise a few times to see how it moves before you stand near wall and loose sight of it.

Some are incredibly small or large so be prepared what you see in inventory may not be the size you exspect when dropped. (crystaline clothing treatment, electronic keys)

Make macro's of those commands to save many, many tears. I usually use...

/move forward 1
/move forward 10
/move forward 50
/move back 1
...
/rotate right 1
/rotate right 45
...
/move up 1
/move up 10
...

The direction that your character is facing is the direction that they take forward and back from. The sitting in a chair tip is thusly very useful.

some one posted if you loose a item open a container in your invintory, then drop the container in the room without closing that containers window. after you drop the container the little up arrow should stay there, click on it and all the items in the house and/or room apear in the window.

will log in and check this now, i beleive this is more of a random by chance bug then a reliable bug. But I give merit to anything that helps us when doing decor, so I will try and do this today to see if it doeswork or can be used regularly.

I just confirmed that opening a bag in a new window, then dropping it -WILL indeed show the items in that room.
(not the full house but only the 'zone' the bag was dropped into)

I do hope this does not change anytime soon because this will be extremly handy when I go about doing new displays.

Thank you for bringing this tip up.

I belive it will be like the bug that you can open the storage container of a droid then store him then call another droid out and open its storage and have both open at same time. its a known bug thats been out for a while and they have not looked into it much at all cause its not game breaking or gives you more storage.

I use the /move up, /move down,/move forward, /move backand /rotate commands, then I macro them and keymap them. So on the numeric keypad, 4 turns the item left by one degree, 6 turns the item right by one degree, 8 moves the item up by one degree, 2 moves the item down by one degree, + moves the item forward by one degree and - moves the item back by one degree. It's easier for me then constantly typing the command.
I mean, if it's a big more (like over 50 spaces/degrees) I'll type a command. But if it's only a few turns or a few space moves, I'll use my macros.
