Thread: Ban List on Theatres
Ok, I am on your side on this one, but, clarify for me how it hurts to resell? Hear me out.
A reseller buys everything you have cause its cheap. You make your profit. Reseller relists it at higher price. Less people buy from reseller cause its higher. As long as you keep restocking then where is the harm? Am I missing a point in here? The way I see it, if you offer prices that a reseller likes, that means you have a guaranteed return customer.
Well, if it was weapons or armour, which can be sold at ludicrously high prices, there's no problems. In this case, however, I'm getting my Droids vendor hammered. Droids (except, of course, for BH droids, which I sell at ludicrously high prices) don't sell well. They are also VERY expensive in terms of parts and time to make. I offer low-cost lines of crafting droids and other untility droids for afew reasons:
1. People LIKE droids, but have very little use for them. Hence, they're not gonna spend much, even in the inflated economy. But they LIKE droids, so if they can buy a limited-utility, low-cost droid, they will.
2. New folks, particularly crafters, who may not be able to afford the hi-priced 44.5+ crafting stations CAN afford one of my crafting droids.
3. Since there's so few DEs around, and most of them make mainly BH droids, there's very few vendors for other droids, like the Merchant Barker and Structure Maintenance droids.
4. People like to browse and WILL impulse buy, just like in real life. But they won't pay very much for droids (except, of course, BH droids) and they won't custom-order something they don't see much use for OR don't even know exist. So the vendor also serves as a showcase for types of droids that folks may not have seen before.
As stated above, droids are quite expensive to make, particularly in terms of the time it takes to make parts, and parts-for-parts. Since they don't sell well, I don't keep 1000-unit runs of all the needed parts in stock (like I doweapons parts, for example). So now I have to fire up a bunch of my factories to suddenly make a couple of crates of R4 chassis, and that means a few crates of Brains, Motive Systems, Sensor Pkgs and Manipulator Arms, then another day to put together the R4 chassis crates, plus the Storage Modules, which need EGPs and EMMs (critical components for BH droids which eat thru them like candy) then finally I can restock the vendor, also hoping I have enough EGPs and EMMs left to keep my BH vendor stocked.
I really hate resellers. I try and keep the prices on my weapons, foods and droids (I have two crafters, 3 combat toons and a Jedi -- there is NO BH Xix) at prices that folks can afford to pay, even those relatively new to the game. The economy has risen to the point where people will gladly pay 800K for a standard gun (my HLR) and can afford to buy out entire vendor stocks (I only stock one item at a time and restock it when it sells, so I usually don't have reseller problems). But, even so, there are some things they just don't buy, except as a novelty or special-use item. Droids are high on that list.
Customershave commented that they LOVE the idea of using the theatre as the Vendor Mall, because it puts many vendors from our Guild Crafters in one place (much like a GH does) and finds a use for the currently huge deco item that is the theatre. And the theatre takes less footprint than the huge, ugly Corellian Guild Halls, so it's more civic-friendly.

reselling stuff is absolutely legal, and it does not really hurts you. And you earn money, since the reseller buys lots of your products. More then that, if you ban this customer/reseller, you will loose this income. And maybe you will in the end loose overall income too.
If you have lots of resellers buying your products, that means usually you 1.) have low prices or 2.) that your products are of high quality.
If so, you should maybe think about rising your prices just a little? if your prices are on line with the rest of the crafters, reselling is no point, since the resellers have to set a price higher then the market price. and thats bad business.
Another idea is to put your name/company name in the nametag of product. if a reseller sells your product he will tell potential buyers, that this one is a reseller, and if they visit your shop, they might find the product cheaper.
I have no trouble with my WS crafter, but then my product prices are very much in line with the rest of the crafting population, and reselling a product carrying my company name in the resellers company, might give the reseller bad reputation. Selling others goods tell the customer we here have with someone who does not bother making his own products.
No, if you make so cheap and great products thats your competitors buys them and resells them be happy, and exploit it to your benefit!! Put your company name in it! Because brand counts quite a lot to people!! And if you put a WP in your product, bet on it, they will look you up next time!!
Its a legit bug, ban list is spose to work, period.
