Thread: A solution to spawning problems...

I'm not sure how it is on other servers, but on Bria our Krayt Graveyard is pretty much broken. The only Krayts that have spawned for weeks there are the static spawns, which don't drop any loot. I'm sure this has a lot to do with several PvE bases in the area, but I'm also thinking it has a lot to do with the houses that litter the area. Since pub 23, it's gotten even worse.

Is it too much to ask that there be a set radius around this POI(and maybe some others) that is considered a "no build zone?" With the house pack up feature, the people who refused to or couldn't move their houses could have them automatically packed up into their datapads. I understand only houses can be packed up at this point, but if all of those were removed, I think it'd help out our spawning problem.

Do any other servers have this problem or a similar one? Anyone have some thoughts on this?

well, I'm live in a player city almost 2k away (from the city hall)from the krayt yard, and I found 2 krayts (one small, one medium) right outside the city limits near my factories on the side not facing the krayt yard. I guess it's just luck?

How recent was that? I used to find spawns as far as 2k away from the POI fairly often. However, I haven't seen one in almost a month now. I'm not sure if there was a change in a patch or if it's related to the problem with all the PvE bases and houses in the area. Regardless, the graveyard is littered with houses. I think it hinders the spawn. It'd be nice if there was a no build zone to avoid this.

I saw the krayts shortly before I made the post. I was kinda surprised since I moved my factories to purposely avoid this

I suppose the problem is with my server then. The houses might be a big part of the problem. However, we have a lot of people who "carpet bomb" planets with PvE bases. This sometimes causes some serious spawning problems. There have been times where I could drive for thousands of meters without seeing anything spawned...except for those NPCs outside of PvE bases. It'd be nice if there was a planetary cap, but that's for another forum.

I agree that POIs should be no-build zones, and I've tried asking for it back when I was a corr. people building around POIs is a big reason why good politician skills like /citywarn were taken away from us

What kind responses if any did you get when you asked for it? Do they have any reasoning why it couldn't be implemented? I know the coding is possible since there are no build zones around NPC cities.

I didn't really get a response to it when I brought it up, but the impression I got was that they don't want to retroactively enforce something like this because people already have buildings there. I hope they reconsider it now that house packup is possible, but that still doesn't take care of cities that are near POIs

when the spawns break, it has nothing to do with Player Cities, Or Bases, it has to do with the server & LAG, You're trying to access an area that isn't loaded with creatures, get off your bike and walk around, within 30 minutes the area you're in will, with luck get some priority and things will load, or there's a more serious probobly that will not correct untill a server reset.

Krayts spawn all over Tatooine, they're not a Graveyard only thing anymore, and that change happend well before the CURB went live (that change happend when they did the big "krayt un-nerf", as we had broken krayts who looted nothing for over a month, while high level imps were dropping krayt loots /shrug. When they brought them back, that's all everyone did and it was making that corner of tatooine very laggy, and was creating alot of problems for the CS department due to all the fighting for spawns, pulling spawns into other groups, dropping turrets to kill massive amounts of turrets, etc....).

PS if you think that's the only reason they removed "City Warn", then you didn't think of any other reasons that this might be used to grief and exploit, and that's why it was removed, not just for 1 example of POI hording

Situation: Im the mayor of town "Fire Base Godzilla", a BH of opposite faction comes to town to buy seeker driods, I city warn him, and our chases him down like a good should, now we have a BH, and a Crafter losing business and a bunch of CSR tickets flying around, Oh, don't forget the tripple incapped him, and caused decay on his equipment etc.....

I know why it's removed, and I didn't say it was the only reason. I said it's one big reason why it was.

we constantly lose things in the game due to inconsiderate people. this is one prime example.
