Thread: Annoying bug with house packup feature

Yesterday I had my first go-round with the house packup feature. First I had a resident of my city transfer their house to me, then I packed it up to move it to a nicer spot near a river for them. When I placed it, it did not adjust the terrain around the house at all. The slight "lump" of land in front of the house actually blocked the entire entrance to the house (large Naboo). Obviously the resident didn't like it so I packed it up and moved it back to where it was originally. However once again it did not adjust the terrain, and now it looked nothing like it did before (grass was covering the concrete walkway in front of the house completely).

I had a feeling something was up with the packup feature, so I transferred the house back to her to get the lots back. Then I got a new large Naboo house deed and placed it where she wanted it near the river. The terrain was adjusted and the entrance to the home was how it should have been. I transferred it to her and she began to move all her stuff over, so yay, happy resident.

To test this again to make sure I wasn't going nuts, I packed up a medium Naboo and placed it in the same exact spot it was in before. The terrain did not adjust once again and the house was partially swallowed by the land. To make matters worse, it was lower than all the other medium Naboo houses that were right next to it!

I did not bug this in-game yet and wanted to make the community aware, in case they hadn't been already.

I'd thought I would comment that there have beens timeswhen I have placed a house the terrain has not adjusted until the next server reset, so that may be the case here.

Yes, well don't bother asking a CSR for help. I made a ticket and was told to place it somewhere else even though I new they could raise it up. That just added to my decision it was time to pack it up permanent lol.

I had that problem a couple of times. However, I packed it up and set it again in the same place and the terrain seemed to adjust itself accordingly.

Well this may give you a shot anyway...

I knew that the terrain was not adjusting when putting down packed up houses, so I really felt foolish when I dropped my house with the door next to the side of the mountain.

So I tried to get in the house, ran down the mountain and instead of walking on the roof of the house, I would be in the house, except it was in outline form (as you sometimes see when you drop a new deed on top of yourself.

I was able to run around in the 'house area' and was eventually even able to /tar structure to target the terminal; however, it wouldn't let me do anything with it.

So after 20mins and almost ready to give up, I kept running at the house where the door should of been (even though it was under ground. And just by chance I heard the wonderful sound of the door opening and I was inside the house for real.

So if this is any help, just keep running in and out of the house where the door should be. Run around where the door should be, try different angles, etc. But aim for the door area, and just keep trying...

I might have been burst running when I finally got in, so even give that a try.

Other than that, hope you can find a happy CSR, and do a ticket on it, and they will rotate or move the house so the door is visible.

Good Luck to everyone on this.

And BTW, I have yet to see an unpacked house 'properly' align to the terrain 100%. Even on a completely flat part of Lok, I unpacked a house, and the door step is about 4in lower on the unpacked house than the regularly deeded house right next to it. Also with a hill below or a hill above, often the dirt will show inside the house as it is too low in the dirt, or the ramps going down don't always go down right if the house is on elevated ground with a sloping front.

So be careful and hopefully they will be addressing this issue before long...

However, it is so cool to have a house of your crap with you at all times. Drop the house if you need food out of it, a different weapon, are delivering stuff to people, or are a Jedi and just want to go grab a soda and need a safe place to for a minute.

When they added in yachts, back in Pub 9, I told my husband that they should do this for houses, and apparently someone in SOE land was reading my mind.

My other idea when JTL hit was an option at the space station to not land but enter sub-orbital space, and be able to fly around the planet like a Flight Simulator (although not be able to fly below like 50m or so).

They could even make it so you could land your ship if you want any place that a large harvester could normally fit. (Even land on Dathomir for example).

The landing system could even be borrowed from the code to drop a structure.

Once landed you could get out of your yacht and use it kind of like an interplanetary RV. LOL

- Maybe someone at SOE has read my mind on this idea as well. When they updated the graphics system so player structures in an area loaded faster and remained visible, I thought, cool, now they have the graphics to let us fly around in sub-orbital space if someone there would just implement it.

If they ever did this, I would imagine they would have to make it so your yacht or fighter could only fly at a marginal speed based on the ship, and was at most like 2 or 3 times the speed of a speeder. (Everyone would just fly around in their RV/SUVs instead of hopping on a speeder. (Or charge us a ton in fuel or repair costs for sub-orbital time)

But Imagine the cool yacht parties you could have hovering over your city or the water falls of Theed.)

And yes it has been a long crazy day/night, so chalk part of this post up to sleep deprivation. LOL
