Thread: Get Rid of City Growth/Shuttleport Caps

The limitations on city growth and shuttleport placements on planets is outrageous in light of the number of non-voting citizens and inactive cities that are not being tended to by current game mechanics.

Currently on Starsider we have two new cities on Naboo with a lot of player activity which cannot expand beyond Tier 2 due to a plethora of other practically-dead cities on the planet.

If you don't intend to get rid of condemned structures orrevoke citizenship for toons which have been inactive for three months or more and downgrade existing cities accordingly, the only fair thing to do is remove the caps on city growth and/or shuttleport placements so that those of us who are actually IN the game and active can have living, breathing cities.

-------
- We see it time and time again in the so-called "content" the developers throw at us. This ain't Star Wars. It's some rip in the space-time continuum that spawned a parallel universe in which Order 66 went horribly-wrong and thousands of Jedi babies got smuggled away like Luke to be raised elsewhere, and now they are all coming of age and making holy terrors of themselves on the normal population for having turned on them a generation ago.

Aye get rid of the caps! My city is in the same boat (clicky).

Thought I'd post here to just spread awareness - hopefully one day someone at SOE will notice

My city is also suffering. Remove the caps until a time when people are forced to keep living cities.

This is a huge problem on Naboo since the foot print of the mediums is also messing up the ability to place more.

The likely outcome of this is not more active cities but more deserted citizen exchange cities with shuttleports.

I don't removing the caps is the solution. I the caps are removed, there will be cities everywhere. What should happen, is a city should require X amount of votes weekly, or monthly to stay alive. If those votes aren't being made, then the city starts to downgrade.

Letting go of caps will only create more database problems. The devs need to just stop catering to people and let houses, factories, and harvesters destroy themselves when not maintained. For the people who quit and figure they'll come back, they can just pack their crap up and store it in the bank if they don't want to lose it.

New cities and guild are suffering because of the caps and dead cities on all planets. There seem to be no growth potential in this game anymore because of the bad policies set up by SOE. People are hitting up against a brick wall when trying to build a new citie for their citizins.
Hostile cities take over is occuring more now because of this. It doesn't make the person feel any better for doing something like this, nor does it make the person that has this done to them feel pleased. Yet how do you cope if you have to compete for land space / cities rights if you have to go up against someone that no longer has active acounts.

Structure going condem instead of blowing up only added to the problem we already have, yet it was implimented when most planets are already full to the brim with unused structures.

They need to get rid of the joke they implimented where stuctures no longer blow up if mateniance are no longer applied to it, and they need to do a server swipe for all inactive players.

I don't think you read the original post correctly. It was not to get rid of city caps (which would be a bad idea) but to get rid of growth/shuttleport caps.

I completely agree 100% with the original poster. Growth and shuttleport caps need to go. The system they put in place is a horrible one that only benefited original hall placers when player cities launched on planets such as Naboo, Corellia, and Tatooine. If your city can grow, by God it should grow! Another city on the planet should not hold up your city from growing. That makes no sense whatsoever! Most (yes most, go visit cities and you'll see) rank 4 and higher cities on Naboo, Corellia, and Tatooine are ghost towns really. There is no activity going on in any of them. This is truly a sad state of affairs for the players who are actively playing this game, and have active cities and guilds.

Although not part of the topic of this thread, I believe the developers also messed up badly on the player city caps for all the other planets. Fourty cities per planet, are they mad? It has allowed Dantooine (on my server at least) to become a hellish place to visit. I don't even go there anymore. The caps should have been maybe 25 at the most, or 20 like the "starter" planets.

While it is true that they need to increase the caps on the starter planets what I would like to see is some more inhabitable planets added to the game!

Ack, you're right. I misread it. Keeping the city caps is needed, but removing growth caps would be a good idea. Though if the supposed purge were to happen, that would also fix most of the problem.

25 is the max amount of any rank cities on naboo/cor/tat wheres all other habitatable planets are 50 i think they should just have these caps instead of rank caps, why only allow some cities to be big where others have the good potential to do so?

20 is the cap for Naboo, Corellia, and Tatooine (believe me I know from recent experience). Everyone else is 50. These caps are fine (as I said in my post). The growth caps need to go already. They're undermining the efforts of new cities, mainly on planets such as Naboo, Corellia, and Tatooine. All other planets aren't "fine" but their caps are much higher obviously, so there is a chance to grow.
