I have a few things to say. For one all of you who are saying that this type of thing should be ignored until bugs are fixed for other things....then why the heck do we have these forums. This is a place for people to discuss things that would be kind of interesting for the game.

Apartments are a good concept and might even help get people back into NPC cities that have long been deserted. I don't know about other servers, but on Radiant, Bestine, Anchorhead, All rori cities, Moenia, Doaba Guerfel, and Mos Espa are dead. That is only a list of a few I know there are more. Everyone has migrated to Dath and Dant because hey let's face it those are the only places to really get any good exp anymore. The programing of the apartments shouldn't be do difficult as you could set it up to be an instance thing. As for the lag....well there has always been lag in Theed and Coronet. Those are the main centers of the SWG Universe. There isn't much we can do about that.

As for hard to get to some houses....well frankly not all cities are big enough to have a shuttleport so maybe jumping a bike and going 2000+m to get to your house isn't improbable. We are trying to be constructive and get players back into the NPC cities like the days of your. I mean hell I remember when Bestine used to be lag central.

Appartments? Come on people more important things r needed, but if ya wanted to put it in and protect player cities you could always hve the random stormie/reb raid on your house, ie fined shot at if ur reb etc and hve sliced stuff or spices in ur house. This would make them slightly less attractive lol

Player Cities are an interesting thing. I live in one right now, before this one, I lived in another one. I moved to this city because this is where my guild is. Not all Player Cities have everything that a NPC has. My guild was recently gutted, we lack quite a few professions. If I need a buff, best place to go to is CNET. If I need to find a variety of different professions, NPC cities.

The NPC cities, at least the captiol ones are hubs of activity. I seriously doubt any PC will attain that amount of popularity. While I like the idea of PC's, the NPC's need to stay as well. In my time living in my two cities I rarely see any of the other people there as I am often out and about. I use my housemainly as a storeroom.

I read up above about living in NPC's. That would be interesting. It really would, although, the devs would need to do more to make it worth it. I mean, it would be so nice to finish a hunting trip, fly over to Moenia. As I leave the starport, I can see my highrise now, on the way, I pass by a street of vendors. One of them says 'Best Pups on Server', knowing my current supply is running low, I stop in the shop and pick up a crate. From there, swing by the local cantina, where a few of the locals are. Sit down, and get my BF and mind wounds healed, and BS about my travels with 6-8 people there. I have now had my fill and need to head to my apartment. Make a few turns and twists, let one of my pets out, so it can do its business, and put it back in my pocket. Head into the lobby, wave to the doorman, and take the elevator to my flat. Drop off my supplies and log off.

Could I get the same thing from a PC? not sure, doubt it. It is always possible, but due to the nature of them, not likely. Why do I say that? Not all guilds/PC's have all the profs, therefore a large reason to go to them is taken away. Not all guilds/PC's have a large population. Not all guilds/PC's are as well known as the NPC's.

I think they would fun an add atmosphere to the NPC cities. It would make them feel more real. Right now the cities are small an most of the building dont even have doors an are just there for show. Allowing players to rent these buildings out for a fairly high fee would be nice. Not to mention it would add new indoor areas to the game. Dont you just love the slummy apartment complex's in the KOTOR cities? It really gives it that big city feel. Player Cities will still exist just because players will want a permanent residence with high storage an not to mention the special city bonus's. Ultimately it would'nt really be harmful to the game. Niether would temporary shop vendor's for Merchants to place.

1. Apartments could be purchased and maintained with Credits.

2. Each apartment could be rented on a first come first served basis AND based on Square Footage.

3. Each subsector of the NPC City could still vote for a City Councilman who has a vote in City Policies and planning. As needed they could vote on creating a new housing. Mayor could be voted on by the people just like an NPC City, yet Mayor would need City Council majority to make any changes in taxes etc.

4. Player cities serve no purpose. I am sorry to say this but they do not. While they may be entertaining, the purpose of a MMORPG is really to experience MASSIVE MULTIPLAYER. It simply does not happen because people are spread out. there will be exceptions to this but almost everything is way too scattered in the game.

5. NPC city habitation will also increase thetraffic for traders. Now you will be able to jump to Theed, buy what you want from the Mall or Trader Buildings in the city, and be on your way. NPC Cities need to server a purpose a whole lot more than Player Cities do.
