yep...asteroids.
Oddly enough i have gotten 2 misshapen asteroid chunks (gave one to a friend for free cause i sure as crack dont need it) from kessel space diamond asteroids. if you want "Misshapen asteroid chunks" go to kessel and mine.

So as a new pilot (2/2/2/2), I decided to do some mining tonight. The mayor of my town would like me to collect some asteroid chunks for decorations. However, I only seem able to mine minerals...what am I missing?

The chunks that appear in your inventory are a random "drop" from asteroid mining. Mine enough and you'll get some, but don't expect them to fall into your lap,

So, just to clarify, there's not specific asteroid I need to look for or no ship I have to have...correct?
