The game is getting rid of time-sinks. We don't need a new one.
However, I do see a use for the bed, aholo camera and a well built female Twi'lek...now you're talking!

We shouldn't be forced to sleep, but it would be an interesting option. It would be neat to be able to click on the beds and select a "sleep" option which has your character laying down and says "zzz" or something like that to show he/she's sleeping. Click the walk button and the character stands up again.
There should also be an interaction for two people... "cuddle" or something. This could be done on the couch and on the bed. It would help married couples seem a bit more loving then they are now.

Whole heartidly agree, also allowing people to lay down for relaxation or reading (building another set of random none combat, or commercial skills like the sims lol,and allowing us to use the bunk beds us rp'rs create in barrack's!
That'd be nice.

I think beds would be useful, but not for your reasons.
Maybe when your in bed you regain your ham and heal your wounds 1.5x than meditating.
Or if you sleep in your bed enough you can get a mind buff, because you are sleeping and healing your self and resting your mind.
And maybe you could have some bazzare interactive dreams maybe

I think we should combine the +100 little buff idea with the emotes, I want my character to sleep when I log off, not sit on the bed in a trance for 9 hours.

Maybe a slow BF/heal. But a noticeable one. Helps in the wee hours when no medics/entertainers are on.
Plus, I'd love to be able to lie on my bed....

you don't need a new bar it could justslowly healbattle fatigue maybe even slow down DOTS...kinda likelow TK meditation not that you should need a skill for sleeping

I don't care to be forced to sleep.
I like the ability to slowly heal BF,and to have a small buff after a nice nap.
How about when you're asleep, you don't get auto-logged out. Have SWG turn off messages back and forth except for a low-bandwidth keepalive (so you miss spatial and guildchat, etc), and can go afk without having to run a keepalive/blink/sit/emote macro. This would let people not have to re-load the whole game -- which takes a full 10 mins on one of my computers -- and not hog up undue server resources or force people in spatial range to deal with your emoting.
Add beds to hotels (remember hotels, anybody?) that charge a couple of credits per minute. (The easiest way to model them into the building would be to have an elevator terminal that warps you toa hotel room, with a bed in it.)

I agree that sleep should not be imposed on us, there are alot of us, whom find that our time is limited or restrained and it would be a shame to spend a chunk of it fufilling a sims like energy bar.
However, i beleive they should implement all the right annimations and provide the followiing benefit. Players should be rewarded for finding a place to sleep before logout, you know like finding a safe palce to logout before server shut down. That doesnt mean sitting squat in the desert.
If you find your way to a tavern, house, encampment or even a scout's sleeping bag or something, then you would awaken with appropriate benefits, such as higher ham, or healed wounds or something (sleep would have to recquire some time of deactivation like logging out for the night or something.. that way you couldnt do a battle, sleep logout and log in all healed. Make it advantageous to seek shelter.
And in game if a player so desires he could perform the appropriate animations on beds to lay down, rest, read, or sleep. And you could... sit there.. if you wanted.. to heal.. while you went to work or something..
However, the ability to simply be able to do that would make RP flexible and believeable (not like sitting in the prone position on one of the cots of the basic camp, with your eyes open)
