Did you have enough maintenance in the houses when you left? It's only been recently added that they'll go to condemned status when they run out of maintenance. Before that, they would just poof along with everything inside.

First off I would like to say I am behind the character purge mentioned to be upcoming at fan fest. However what I am wooried about is I have no idea how many accounts are truely active in our city. We do try to keep an active guild and city but after the CU a lot of people have quit (also a lot joined) but we dont know if people have cancelled, dont play but still have an active account etc.

Now if they purge 20 chars from our city then we will fall below the amount needed for a shuttle. Whereas I dont mind the purge so much I think its unfair that suddenly our city (and I can only assume an awful lot of others) will be left in a sudden hole.

Does anyone else think the devs should perhaps give cities a 2-3week grace after the purge to recruit new players if needed and the city wont droprank. I think it is unfair that perhaps a city is all going along nicely on a monday morning. The devs then purge and because that city updates on tuesday morning it sees they have fallen below the shuttle limit and therefore their town goes down a rank and loses their structures.

As a mayor I try my very best to make sure peoples houses are active but since the CU and the fact that our city is quite big I simply have no idea how many ppl are inactive and there is no way to tell.

Just wanted to see if anyone had any thoughts. I really think a hold on city ranks for a few weeks after a purge is only fair to let cities stabalise.

From what I've heard, they do plan on doing just that.

yeah, supose to be a month i think. But i wish no, its about time the current cities fall, and most of them will luckily. Not to be a jerk or anything but this is one aspect of the game unavailable to most paying customers and just like in real life the cities shouldnt last forever, i wont bother touching on the other part of the game unavailable to most people (JEDI).

First off have u made a city and no how much effort goes into it? If you had Im sure you wouldnt say stuff like that. Cities are avalible to anyone but they take an awful lot of time and money to run. Taxes etc dont cover the costs so u either have to donate money personally or guild hunts etc to sustain the town. Most players wont want the high level of problems associated with running a city. So after building and working hard on a city for months and months i doubt any people will be happy to see their city crumble. A month seems fair.

quick note on ur other point although not the right board. jedi is avalible to everyone in the game hence ppl complaining about to many jedi so dont even start on that point lol.

Im not for character perge per se, I would be happy with all inactive accounts for longer then 60 days to no longer count towards city residency.

I mean... so many older cities are sitting securly with their shuttle ports and level two cities with more then two thirds of the city is inactive. While on the other hand my city, founded post CU now stands at 60 residents... but stuck at township because the Naboo cap for level 4 cities is reached (really: prompted up by inactive citizens).

Why should we wait a day longer for the older cities to recruit to save their city level, when we have at least 15 active members daily, and all members active through out the week? I know they are active because we monitor our citizens to determine who is on to plan events.

I am all in favor of non active players not counting towards residency as of tomorrow! Absolutely no grace periode! I want a shuttle too!

Though... they should implement some kind of option on the terminal to tell a mayor what percentage of the population has been loged on during the past week.

Actually my mayor and I are awaiting the player housing purge and were disappointed to learn that there would be a period where we would not drop ranks. I don't think of it as the city "crumbling," I see it as all the deadwood being cleared away so we have room to grow.

I am going to take the opposite view of the original poster here. Does it suck that cities will drop? Yes. But that is (somewhat) the point. There are a lot of these so-called ghost towns that don't really deserve to be at whatever level they are at. I have run a metropolis (that was really hurt by the FIRST purge) and I have run a simple outpost. In the end, it was my duty, as mayor, to ensure that the city was ready for every possibility that might arise. In general, I always tried to have double the required population for whatever level it was that I wanted to sustain. If I just wanted a shuttle for my residents, I felt truly safe when I had 110 residents. My current town has residents, and all but three are very active. I still don't feel entirely safe, but I am not too worried.

The plain fact is that it is NOT unfair that cities will shrink or cease to exist completely. If it happens to you, you merely have yourself to blame. You can say that it is because of a purge, or whatever, but as mayor, it is YOUR responsibility to oversee all aspects of your town. If you are really that worried about the purge, get out now and start recruiting. We have no timetable for this action and will likely have time to get warm (active) bodies into the various homes. But remember this: communication is the key to a successful city. Don't bring in flakes and your city won't be flakey come the purge.

I think the day after the purge, that cities should be given one week notice to replenish their citizenship then city services poof and rank drops. There are plenty of currently active cities that have not used lot trades etc to gain rank that deserve the chance to "get their shuttle" and rank up. Why reward the cities that have used a dead citizenship and keep on punishing the active cities who have patiently waited?

There has never been a character purge yet. They talked about it back in October, but it didn't happen.
