This has been going for a little while and our city use to thrive with money because of sales tax added in treasury but our city has lost lots of money because the sales tax is no longer going into the treasury...
where is it going? we use to make enough to cover all costs our city has with the specialization on now we had to turn that off and start picking some stuff up...
please fix this....
anybody notice this?

It was bugged after the release of publish 9 with the merchant/vendor changes.
It has been that long.
it is going to the merchant.
I have asked all merchants to use the honor system to donate the tax back. I am probably getting a lot less because most forget but I at least get the bills paid'

We've noticed that the money disappears from the merchant's inventory on more then a few times so you should just remove the tax all together and switch to donations or 'city events' like hunts and mission day or something where all proceeds go to the treasurey.
And yeah this has been broken for a good long time.

From testing the money goes to the merchant 90% of the time, and the other 10% goes to some unknown fund...but not the city treasury
....been this way since pub 9.

I'd follow the posters suggestion, just abolish it
Increse shuttle fees, and garage fees. Send out a city wide mail expalining why.
Institute a Income Tax...tell them why
Then run some events or ask for donations cause you still won't get enough
Not sure if its fixed yet but property tax is buggy too so best not to use it either

Our city is now level 5 and almost a year old. (Yay for us!)
Sales tax has always been buggy for our city since day one -not one credit ever made it into the treasury. Gave up all hope of it being fixed after the city hit level 3.
Property tax is iffy. Sometimes it works, most of the time it doesn't. My roommate got12 emails in one hour saying that his property tax has been paid and he only had one house (no factories or harvesters).Eight times out of ten the tax never reaches the city treasury unless you have it set to damn near max.
Income tax is worthless. Not everyone is a die hard grinder/mission slave and the amount that the tax takes usually doesn't even come close to even making a dent in the city maintenance.
Either fix the tax problems or get rid of them and lower the maintenance on cities. Most mayors (myself included) are paying out of pocket just to keep the cities running anyway, so why make it harder for them?

This has been broken for nearly a year now. Fixing bugs in or adding to player cities is just not anywhere on the Dev's list of priorities right now it seems. Just look at the new streetlamps they put in the game. They're interior only and cannot be placed in a city like regular streetlamps.
Maybe after they finish the CU they'll come around and try to fix Player Cities, but till then we just have to deal with it.
In Avalon, we still have the sales tax and just ask our merchants to donate a percentage of their sales to the treasury every week or so. We also run a lottery where people donate 1000 credits for their "ticket" and then a winner is randomly chosen for whatever prize items we have that week. But, if you're in a player city who's citizens are largely inactive or not willing to contribute the extra money they get from sales taxes to the city, then you're going to be in trouble.
