I have an idea for apartaments. That apartaments star off as one floor houses called lobbies. And when you go into teh lobbie there will be a droid there that will ask you if you would like to buy an apartament And if you say yes then you will be able to choose a floor. Maybe teh apartaments will go up to 12 floors. And say you chose the 3rd floor then teh apartament will be built up to teh 3rd floor and if somone else comes it they can choose where ever else they want to go. And it would cost like 50k every 76 hours to own an apartament. There would be different apartaments on each floor and when you are in your apartamanet on teh lobbie there will be a control panel that tells you who lives on what floor and you can buzz them to come up. When you buzz tehm a message appears on your screen saying that so and so wants to come up to your apartament :accept decline. And if you want you can change your name on teh apartament list for a fee of 30k so jedi can get away from BH's if they really need too. What do you guys think?

is this like a NPC city apartment thing . . . or a player city appartment building thing?

If it a player city thing . . . I could understand an inflated maintanence cost as you woul dimage that those "renting" would be paying some kind of fee (much like what merchants/ artisans) can do. A high maintanence cost would nake the "owner" want to rent . . . though the price yo list is kinda steep.

Now why I think this won't work/happen. It took how long for the 2 seater vehicles to actually hold more than 1 person? How often is a passenger now getting booted due to stabilty problems associated with the drivers connection?

What you're proposing is kinda already done . . . . with player cities. A mayor can and usually does put down several small houses which they then transfer residence to others who need homes. They then may have a tax that helps support the community/city.

Not saying your idea is bad . . but there is so much that needs to be fixed already than to add an elaborit new houseing stucture system.

I think its a pretty cool idea. Maintainence should be like half the cost of a small house tho, maybe less. But i bet those apartments would require MASSIVE ammounts of recources. Thats why i guess only a few rich people would be able to buy them and make money from all the poor people that would want to live in them. If you could put down furniture and vendors in your own personal room, it would be better than using up a lot for a merchant tent. It could be helpful to crafters so they could place more harvesters, and you could rent multiple rooms for storage, it would also save room in player cities.

I still think places like these for rent in major cities would work too. Instanced housing already exists in the form of player ships, so its not like the database can't handle it.

I like the idea of apartments; the idea of a droid who you purchase one from either a NPC city or Player City. Wouldnt you love to live in a high rise apartment on Corillia .. looking out over the city? This could work ... of course it would be one of those things like a shuttle port.. your city would have tobe high enough rank to support one or two or three buildings.

Remember though, for some reason in houses, you cant look out the windows cause...... there arent any that you can look out. But still, if they did an apartment they should put windows. And when you go in, it should only load the objects in the lobby, hallways and public areas if any, and only load objects in peoples rooms when you enter them, if it loaded all the objects in the building you would probably be sitting there asleep drooling on the keyboard.

I thought about something i posted here earlier tho, i think that apartments shouldnt take up lots but there should be a limit as to how many apartment rooms you can be renting at one time, or else some people who are rich would rent out all the rooms and have imitless ammounts of storage space. And maybe you shoulnt be able to put vendors in apartments, im not really sure. Vendors in an apartment would be a topic to debate... If there were vendors, maybe there should only be 3 or soregaurdless of how many merchant skills you have. I dont really know about that one...

I said that there would be a limit of like 3 apartment rooms, that would make crafters be able to have storage but have more lots for harvesters if you arent the type of crafter that has hordes of people running harvesters for you.

I definitely think that Player Purchased Apartments in NPC citiesare vital. Bring the player base back to the NPC city. Establish market areas where players can set up player run shops that are immersed with graphic funtionality and player based purpose. In fact a City revamp should be on the drawing boards. To me--player cities have never grown into a proper direction that flow with the direction and feel of the Star Wars Universe. Apartments would be amazing with the additions of player based markets run inside the cities. A market square.Player run Neighborhoods.Just fix the lag first-lol

I think the programming is possible andit would be a huge step into populating static cities which I would love to see. Player cities are dead, they are nothing more than ghost towns. Why would you want to hang in a player city when you can go to the Mining Outpost, Theed, or even Coronet to interact with people on the streets. This is where people hang out. If you livein a static city, it will definitely be worth the while, won't have to travel far, and you would have more of a "starwarsy" feeling by living in these cities.

As for the aparments in static cities, they would have to be instance zones like the planet Kashyyyk. Better yet, just like the way EverQuest 2 is designed. People live in static cities, they go to where their resident is located and then when they click on the door, s(he) is loaded into there apartment. Also, there are options to have players on your guest list to become administrators, etc (just like player houses in swg). And you also see who lives inside your apartment building.

Either way, the option to live in a player city, static city, or just out in the wilderness would be a drive in the right direction. Any way you look at it, if static cities do havethe option to become populated, player cities will definitely become more extinct. Who wouldn't want to live in a static city? I would pack everything up in a heartbeat to declare in that static city. It has everything I need (bazaar, shuttleport, starport, cantina, medical, clone station, etc). Not to mention.... people to interact with on the streets.
